90′s Duo ‘Blahzay Blahzay’ Sues Wyclef For Copyright Infringement

Posted by Juan

DANGER!

Wyclef

Manhattan Federal Court has been busy with hip hop related litigation.  Yesterday the court heard proceedings in which Wyclef Jean is been sued by 90′s rap duo Blazhay Blazhay for allegedly using their 0ne-hit wonder single “Danger” illegally.  Blahzay Blahzay (DJ PF Cuttin’ and MC Out Loud) argue that Jean used elements of “Danger” in his 2007 song “Welcome to the East.”

Ironically the Pete Rock produced record, “Danger” includes mad samples including one from Jeru da Damaja and the word “Danger!” which was cut from a Old Dirty Bastard sample. While these samples were likely cleared or reconciled, sometimes you look silly when you do stuff like this.
