New Kidz In the Hall Music Video is (Not So Subliminal) Ad For Reebok Kicks
Group Remixes Special Ed’s “I Got It Made” to pump Reebok’s Remix Shoe Line
Kidz In the Hall – "I Got It Made (09)" Reebok Classic Remixes
Marketers used to turn to their music departments to craft hip hop soundbeds for their commercials to appeal to the “urban” demographic. That’s how we got those crappy rap jingles from back in the day. Believe it or not they were structured to try and appeal to your musical taste but in many cases failed miserably and may have even had an adverse effect.
Thankfully, long gone are those days of in-house cheesy raps to sell products. Now corporate America is using actual artists instead to record those cheesy raps to help pump their inventory. The latest and one of the most blatant examples of this is the new Kidz in the Hall music video which is said to remix my man Special Ed‘s cult class “I Got It Made.” While it may not do the original justice, that’s understandable because the duo obviously focused most of their attention on trying to get you to buy the new Reebok Remix shoe line exclusively available at Foot Locker.
With marketing and every other budget shrinking in the corporate world marketers are trying every possible angle to get you to buy their products without spending a fortune. On the flip side, it has begged the question as to if these artist have sold their soul or just become more business conscious? How much is too much? Does it not offend you that now when you’re paying the $.99 on iTunes that you may be subjected to a subliminal (or not so subliminal) commercial? If its the wave of the future, these efforts will only become more frequent and more blatent…I’m all for creative marketing but where does hip hop draw the line?
Heads Up: Woooha
