Rap Pioneer DMC Launches New Website That You Won’t Care About Or Likely Ever Visit
Raise your hand if you are interested in a virtual community for fans of DMC? Anyone? No one?
So i’m checking out this report about how DMC has partnered with Worlds.com to come out with a online virtual world where his fans can interact with each other, visit replicas of venues DMC has performed at and even buy tickets to real world shows. Sounds like a great idea right? Wrong.
As cool as this might sound, who’s really going to use this site? How many fans does DMC even have as a solo artist? Not many I bet. And if you don’t agree with that statement then I challenge you to come up with the name of just one song he has released by himself (and no you can’t check Wikipedia first). So what’s likely to happen is that a bunch of money and man hours will be poured into getting this thing off the ground and it will flop hard.
I say this meaning no disrespect to DMC. I respect him as a hip hop pioneer but there is little interest in his solo music and even less interest in a DMC branded online community. When it comes to this internet thing some people are really out of touch with what other will and will not want to do (*cough* video hoes who think people will pay money to view their pictures *cough*)
All the extra stuff is unneeded. Just get a Facebook Page, a Twitter profile and keep it moving.

Yo this thing looks so cheesy. Its like when we started talking about virtual reality like 15 years ago. Didn’t know he was still performing.
.
Harsh words Mike but definately right on the money.
wow. that’s worse than i thought it would be.
ummmmmmmm……
