D.L. Hughley’s Show On CNN Canceled?
There have been a some rumors going around that DL got canned. Here’s the truth on the matter
Some of you may remember a while back when I first reported on CNN giving D.L. Hughley his own show. When the show launched critics slammed it and even I must admit that those first few episodes were somewhat painful to watch. I remained optimistic as I wanted D.L. to succeed. I figured that he just needed to find his groove. And judging by more recent episodes, I was correct. D.L. show had become a place to see some rather interesting interviews. Such as his recent interview with Chuck D and Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele (which I embedded below).
However today I have been reading all over the place that CNN had canned the show with their excuse being “budget constraints”. It didn’t make much sense to me since like I said, the show had finally seemed to be taking off. So I looked into it and found this official statement from CNN in regards to the state of D.L. Hughley Breaks The News…
“D.L. approached CNN about being permanently based in Los Angeles, where his family lives. To accommodate this, we agreed upon a new role where he will be a contributor for the network based in Los Angeles. We are eager to continue our relationship with D.L. who is a tremendous talent and a valued colleague.”
This makes a bit more sense. Seems the ending of the show was actually D.L.’s idea. I have heard him say in the past that it is a big strain for him to commute from the west coast all the way to the east coast for several days each week, leaving his family, to film the show.
So it seems D.L. will also still be working for CNN. It’ll be interesting to see what role they will have him in.

well thats wzup, glad it went down how it did. good for him
Family comes first. That’s noble. I watched the show once or twice in its early stages but its nice to see he’s still with the network. Good find.
