Harvard Law Reaches Out To Hip Hop
School’s Law Student Association hosts youth job training seminar on jobs in hip hop
Harvard Law School’s Black Law Student Association (BLSA) has teamed up with The Hip-Hop Entertainment Law Project (HHELP) to host a music seminar to help at-risk teens earn jobs within the music industry. The “The Bizness behind The Business!”seminar will be held at Harvard Law School on March 14, 2009 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Last month MC Hammer (born Stanley K. Burrell) visited the college to speak about his second life as an entrepreneur in the social networking space. The Hip Hop resurgent focus is a major paradigm shift for the historically conservative university. Its no coincidence the groundswell comes at a time when Harvard Law alumn, Barack Obama assumes office.
The “The Bizness behind The Business!” event is part of BLSA’s 26th Annual Spring Conference, dubbed “The Fierce Urgency of Now: Effecting Change at Home and Across the Globe,” taking place March 13 – March 15.
Scheduled guests include Conrad Dimanche of Bad Boy Records and Tone Capone of Universal Motown, Adrian “607″ Tillman, Najja Campbell of The Learning Club of Toledo, an experienced juvenile re-entry associate. Panelist will discuss the importance of staying in school, staying out of trouble, and how to pursue a career in the music business. There discussion will be followed by a short Q/A.
