Video: Two ‘Fat Pig’ Cops Pummel 15-year-old Girl After She Gets ‘Lippy’

Posted by Juan

Seattle Deputy charged with Assault. Police Brutality?

Its been a minute since police wilded out on video.  What has it been two months or so since that BART cop in Oakland shot and murdered a handcuffed suspect?

Over the weekend, this video of a Seattle sheriff deputy pummeling a 15-year-old girl surfaced on the internet.  The incident initially took place on Nov. 29 but was discovered by a private investigator assigned to the girl’s case on Dec. 1.  The video was made public just one day after King County Deputy Paul Schene, 31, pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault.

Schene is was an eight-year vet out of Precinct 4, a high crime areas in Seattle. He is the third sheriff’s deputy from that Precinct since 2006 to face charges on allegations of excessive force.

Here’s a recap

Deputy Travis Brunner spotted the girl’s parent’s car driving without headlights about 3:45 a.m.  The car had been reported stole from her parents home.  She and another 15-year old girl were arrested and taken to City Hall to be processed.  The deputies claim they didn’t know until later that the girl, who was in the passenger seat, was related to the car’s owner.

The video shows Schene and Brunner as they escorted the girl into the holding cell. Schene had asked her to remove her kicks, and, as she slipped out of one she kicks the other at Schene in true G fashion.
My Question

Is this excessive force?  Is this police brutality deserving of an assault charge or worse on Officer Schene? Officer Brunner claims the girl was “real lippy” after being informed she was under arrest and called them “fat pigs.”  Do you feel her actions or backtalk should warrant the  “response” of these cops? Notice I haven’t given you the girl’s race which isn’t apparent in the tape but yes….she is black.  Thoughts?

It doesn’t appear that these officers responded in a fashion befitting professionals. Understand what I’m about to say, I don’t think what these officers did was right at all, but it may make kids think twice about stealing their parent’s $hit!

    • Juan says:

or getting “lippy?” It seems as if the police were trying to “dicipline” her for her backtalk like a parent would do. There’s nothing in the law against talking ish. While it might not help you get preferential treatment by your caretakers, wasn’t she being punished for it? He actions in “stealing” the car were punished by her imprisonment. This is something different no?

  2. Does it matter her race? You’re already in police custody so they have an obligation to keep you safe. Words and a shoe flying in your direction shouldn’t set off a cop like that. He grabbed her hair, yanked her to the ground, threw blows to her head, banged her head against the floor… and escorted her out the cell by her hair. Now… this a female in handcuffs… Is all that warranted? Hell no.
    .
You have to have a cool head, no matter what, when being a cop. You cannot allow people to get to you. I think this dude was looking for an in. He should be used to being called a pig.

  3. M.Y. says:

This is all levels of wrong. First of all she’s 15 years old and a female. She did not pose a threat towards both of their big asses so why the need to attack her? Punching her in the head after slamming her head against a cement wall was completely unneccesary and excessive than grabbing her hair to lift her up! Are you serious? No matter what may have come out of her mouth, attacking her with no valuable reason such as her having a weapon or her charging them, is ridiculous. One of them could have restrained her with their pinky this is just ridiculous.

I think it goes beyond children or teens a like having to stay out of trouble because in any other situation when they are being mistreated whether it be police station, court house, et cetera, it would be wrong. Yes she was wrong for stealing the car but no this is not how she should learn her lesson her human rights were totally violated. There is no excuse for such barbaric atrocious behavior smdh

    • Juan says:

Did I mention the cop in question is 6’2″ 195 Lbs. I agree with you. Its clear she’s no angel but her actions were punished by her arrest…this is extra curriculars.

  4. joebloe says:

Don’t misunderstand, I think what the cops did was totally WRONG, what I am saying is this. If her lil’ 15 year old A$$ had been home in the bed like she shoulda been, then she woulda never been in that type of situation. Sometimes the good suffer with the bad and you can have your A$$ in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    • Juan says:

Did she put herself in harms way by her actions and kicking her shoes off? Yes…should she be subjected to such a beat down? That’s what I’d like to debate.

  5. malcolm says:

Ok, now you’re about to get me going again.
    .
I think this video is symbolic of nearly all the problems our country (and now the world) are facing.
    .
It comes down to the social contract between the people and their government. The people trust and respect their leaders; in exchange for their leaders being trustworthy and acting on their behalf.
    .
When a people can no longer trust those in authority: when the press, the police, the politicians, the business owners, and your next door neighbors are no longer trusted, it spells the potential doom of civilization.
    .
I don’t know what’s worse: two grown men beating up a child (and a female no less), the cops doing it on videotape, or the cops thinking (and almost succeeding) in getting away with it.
    .
What if the detective had not got his hands on the video? The girl would have gone into court and (rightfully) claimed abuse. The cops would look back with a smirk on their face and say “what, no way”. And in the end, the girl would have been convicted and the cops would have been reinforced in their belief that as police they are above the law.
    .
It’s chic to throw around the word “nazi”. It seems as though any republican idea that’s disliked is called “nazi” by the left. But sometimes the word fits. And, in this case, it fits in the deepest psychological way.
    .
Consider, for a moment, the mental damage done to this woman, her parents and family, her friends, and anyone who watches this video.
    .
Above the brutality and murder of the Nazi’s, there was a fundamental principal that exactly plays out in this video: the fact that those who are guilty are the same people who are supposed to be protecting you.
    .
What do you do when those who are supposed to be protecting you are your torturers? Who can a citizen call when it is the cops themselves who are the attackers? No one.
    .
For this girl (whether she was innocent or guilty), the American dream no longer exists. She will no longer trust the police, or the justice system, or her government. The odds are that she will no longer trust ANYONE again; and frankly she would be smart not to.
    .
Something is seriously wrong with our country.

    • Juan says:

GREAT POINT: These cops KNEW they were on video tape. The simple fact that this action went on means they didn’t care OR thought that this excessive force was no big deal.
      .
I think you’re totally right. There’s a problem with the relationship between some folks (many of which are either poor or black) who can no longer trust those in authority.
      .
To be frightened of those who vow to protect you is horrible and a fundamental problem in our society. While I don’t think this girl is scared here, her disrespect of the officers does not stem from this isolated incident. It comes from a history of disconnect between “her people” and law enforcement. To fix these problems…that relationship MUST be addressed.

  6. malcolm says:

and here’s more video (from outside the cell) showing the “assult” the cop was claiming (because the shoe touched his ankle)

    • Juan says:

This was the original video with that angle you were referring to. I was going to post this but the other one is clean without the report. This one gives you the angle from the hallway as well.

  7. mitchell says:

If she was guilty of the crime or not no cop should put there hands on the suspect like that unless the suspcet attacks first. She can run her month all she wants its her freedom of speech. She can call them every name in andout of the book they are officers train to uphold the law the law doesn’t have in it anywere that the officer can beat the suspect because they were “lippy”. These to cops should be thrown in jail. Its a shame cops use there badges to abuse the system and the people they are suposed to protect

    • Juan says:

I agree with you also however, I’m not sure the “Freedom Of Speech” defense always works. They can site you for insubordination or disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct ish like that.
      .
I’m going to have to defend the second cop, Officer Brunner, if you watch him throughout the tape he’s doing what he’s trained to do which is help his partner. I don’t think he initiates any excessive force but at the same time he doesn’t stop it either.

  8. mitchell says:

Her shoe toss didn’t deserve a knockdown drag out those PIGs were obviously waiting on her to do something like that or they would have just closed the door right when she walked in
How would they feel if that was their mothers, daughters, sister being beaten like that.

  9. damn this shit really pisses me off. even if she was 35, this never should have happened for what she said/did. i’d like to see duke with out that badge and grip, only way to make shit like this right is “how do you like it”? he need his ass whooped simple and plain

  10. A female? Really? What is going on with folk. And why did he have to escort her out the cell by her hair? Wasn’t it enough that he knocked her head into the wall and floor (not to mention the many blows by his fist to her head)?
    .
I know cops are human and have feeling too but you have to check your attitude and personal feelings at the door. So what she called him a pig. Man… I can only imagine what we don’t see on video tap. I’m glad someone is watching these fools. Don’t they know when the tapes are rolling or do they just don’t care about getting caught?

    • Juan says:

I think you’re right. The job of a law enforcement officer is not easy. But regardless of your post you need to be disciplined enough to ignore that. While I think the level of cooperation of the “perp” may play a factor in their treatment, this is excessive especially the whole hair thing.

      • RUTHLESSNYC says:

The hair thing is fair game. The part that was extra was the punching her in the back of the head when she was down, although she was not handcuffed. A police officer can use the “minimum force necessary” to overcome assault or to subdue someone.

  11. joebloe says:

We live in a @#$%ed up society folks.

  12. Here’s an interview with the girl after the beating…

    • Juan says:

She should have stayed out of the media. “He was saying mad rude things to me.” He’s a police officer. She provoked him clearly. Whether she gets a beat down or not is another thing. She’s too cute to be beefing with officers.

  13. adifuluv says:

oh yeah! after watching this, its clear that she needs another beat down… you cant play with the police like you cute… I’ve known police who put people in the trunk, whip their a$$, and drop them off on the other side of the river for being cute and lippy. She got off sweet. lucky her!

  14. makeya'llmad says:

    BEAT DAT A$$!!!!

  15. skinnygirluver says:

She got taught several lessons right there. The beating was over the top no doubt but that was a life changing ass whooping right there.

  16. cahmodity says:

Gaaaaaamble! This is another terrible act in which police are abusing their power. There was a similar case down here in Houston, where the police actually shot a black male without warning in his own driveway.

  17. RUTHLESSNYC says:

Okay!!!!!I will admit the beating became a little over the top when he punched her in the head when she was on the floor, but other than that he could have articulated why he rushed her and took her to the floor. Now like ive said in previous post I am not for police brutality but she wouldn’t have been in the situation if she wasn’t in a stolen car number one. Two, people dont have respect for law enforcement as a whole. This life changing ass whipping she got will be in the back of her damn head next time she wants to fly off the handle at a cop!!!!!! As you guys can see she provoked the officer and she stated it her her video. No that is not a reason for the officer to respond like he did and im sure he will be discplined. I hate these incidents and videos but one would think after seeing stuff like this it would deter people from wanting to fight cops and talk shit but I guess not. As a cop do you sit back and let people have there way with you ???? what do you do?

    • Juan says:

For once I think I agree with you 100%. She obviously provoked the man who happens to be an officer. Its pretty obvious the cop wasn’t out to kick her ass from jump. He did because she provoked him. She probably thought it was cool or socially acceptable to talk ish to cops…well now she probably won’t any more. On the other hand to answer your question I think its very important for an officer to exercise restraint. I understand its difficult and damn near impossible but with so many eyes on what you do, its a necessary skill in the profession.

      • D(A)ve says:

I can’t believe what I’m reading. You actually have something to say in defense of what that “police officer” is doing in that video??? Do you really think that little girl did something to deserve that beating, by instigating or being cute??? What if she was your daughter, or girlfriend, or sister??? How can you condone someone acting in that brutal, immature way, whose job it is to protect and serve us and whose title is ‘peace officer’??? You do realize, don’t you, that if this kind of thing is allowed to go on, our “land of the free and home of the brave” will very quickly degenerate into a living hell on earth- funded by our taxs. Please say you were just joking around to help keep yourself from lashing out and breaking something expensive. That would make sense. That, would at least resemble doing the right thing

  18. Seattleite says:

While this dumb broad may not have deserved what she got, she definitely brought it on herself. Whether or not she could’ve/should’ve/would’ve known that the cop would react the way he did is besides the point. What exactly did this chick hope to achieve by calling police officers “fat pigs” and kicking her shoe at them?

As for the race thing, unfortunately, it IS relevant…..

African American people have an astounding amount of pride in who they are as people. Unfortunately, this pride often manifests itself in a negative way. Whenever faced with with an opportunity to accept responsibility for their criminal actions or social indiscretions, this subconcisous inner sense of pride and denial surfaces, and the whole situation turns into an episode of “When keepin’ it real goes wrong.” All of a sudden it’s anybody’s fault but their own.

    Take this broad for instance:

Why couldn’t she just shut the fuck up and admit that she broke the law and got caught. Why did SHE have to invoke the race card and start insulting the police officers? Why did she feel the need to kick her shoe at the police? Just because YOU feel and look stupid because of the choices YOU made doesn’t give you the right to disrespect and blame OTHER poeple. Why don’t you just own up to your actions you fuckin’ delinquent.

The fact that the cop was White don’t really mean shit. If this girl started jaw-jackin’ out the side of her neck to a black cop and kicked her shoe at him, he’d have Chris Browned her ass all the same.

That’s why White girls don’t get beat up by cops… they do one of 3 things:

    1. Cry
    2. Call Daddy
    3. Offer to blow the Cop

See, neither of the above will result in you getting your ass beat buy an officer of the law.

Now how many of you are gonna pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about?

    • Juan says:

While I recognize your sarcasm I do agree with some of your points. She clearly didn’t give herself a chance to avoid the ass whopping.
      .
As far as race I’m not sure it plays to large a part in this. Given the evidence one can’t really deduce whether the attack was or was not racially motivated. Yes she was black and he was white her comments were racially fueled nor did it appear he was instigated by her race…but then again we don’t know he wasn’t either.

  20. Seattleite says:

I’m willing to bet race played a part on both sides. I doubt the cop would’ve hit a white girl/woman like that, but I also doubt the chick would’ve talked back to a black cop like that.

Compound disrespect… and now they both look like idiots.
