EW: Eddie Murphy To Star in Richard Pryor Biopic
If the film ever gets made
In this the age of rumored celebrity biopics, “Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?” has catapulted to the front of a long list of those currently release. Though many details have yet to be solidified a new report from Entertainment Weekly has attached Eddie Murphy to the star role as Richard Pryor. The two of course worked together on the 1989 film “Harlem Nights.”
Currently the film is shopped by writer-director Bill Condon to studio subsidiaries and independent distributors in Hollywood.
“Fox Searchlight, the studio behind this year’s big Oscar winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ is interested in the film,” Sources tell EW.com. “The studio, which declined comment, has a relationship with Condon, having partnered with the director on his 2004 feature ‘Kinsey.’”
Condon, who most recently directed the 2009 Academy Awards, wrote and directed “Dreamgirls.” Condon had the Pryor biopic set up at The Weinstein Company but negotiations crumbled. “He initially was hoping to secure $30 million to produce the film, but that number, sources say, has dropped down to $25 million,” EW reports.

I had heard Mike Epps. Also heard Damon Wayons.
