50 Cent Spilled ‘Blood On The Sand’ To Protect The Kids

Says he plans to make “Saints Row” franchise into a movie

With the video game “Blood on the Sand,” the follow up to 50 Cent‘s multi-million selling “50 Cent: Bulletproof” 50 set to hit the shelf everyone is asking… “WHY?”  Dos Un stayed up late to give you your First Look at the cover art of 50′s unprecedented second game to feature his name and likeness.  Unlike his previous effort which featured what some said a far too graphic portrayal of violence, Blood on the Sand takes gamers to battle in the desert, shooting, driving, and flying their way through the desert in order to retrieve his stolen diamond skull.
Mike Fahey at Kotaku recently sat down with Fif to discuss why exactly is the story line so absurd?  I mean a shooting game featuring rappers set in the desert?

“It might be far-fetched, but that’s me avoiding you telling me that my game is so graphic that you feel like it will make kids go do stuff that they’re not supposed to,”  50 said in response to the outcry from parents following Bulletproof.  “If I didn’t do what I did conceptually when it came time to create the setting for the game, I would get all these complaints about the game being too aggressive.”

Said with a hood eloquence that only 50 can accomplish.  But how does the release of his games effect the sales of his music.

“I do see a change in the response to the actual music. What I’ve learned is a lot of time they’ll turn the television down and play music from another source, because the quality of material that’s on the actual game isn’t up to standards right now. The opportunity to provide that intensifies the actual experiences.

This is why this is perfect to release (the game) prior to the sales of the actual album. When they actually get a chance to hear some of that material, it raises the anticipation of what my next album is going to be because this music has been held to standard.”

With the success of Bulletproof and the buzz surrounding Blood on the Sand mixed with 50′s business savvy there’s no doubt 50 will continue to exploit gaming as yet another avenue in his successful formula.  So what’s next?  During a recent conference call promoting the new game, 50 announced his intentions to develop a film based on THQ’s Saint’s Row franchise.

With my relationship with THQ, they’ll actually see me develop Saint’s Row into an actual screenplay and into a film project. I’m optioning the rights for that right now, so they’ll see that before they see me do it from my own perspective for my game.

So for those of you who thought 50 was dead…welp?!

  1. The first game was garbage. Anyone who who spends 60 on this onw without consulting a ton a reviews is a fool.

  2. Juan says:

What you don’t want to be shooting terrorist in the desert while styling iced out?

  3. If he does do a Saints Row movie(though I dont see why anyone would) It would crazy to just keep it true the fun ridiculousness of the game an not try to make it into a Street Kings/Menace Super serious thing…just because that would be way too obvious. Colorful yet Gritty.
