Watching Black History: Malcolm X Speech

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

At a June 1964 rally, Malcolm X criticizes the recent Civil Rights Bill and repeats the mantra, “by any means necessary.”

When you ask an black person who the one person is that motivated people of color to fight for freedon and equality they are more than likely going to say Martin Luther King, Jr. or Malcom X.

Malcolm has never been popular as Martin because he said many controversial things but in the end what he wanted to achieve was very similar to what Martin did which was to see blacks no longer treated like second class citizens.

In the video below you will see a brief clip from one of Malcolm’s speeches where the mantra “by any means necessary” is used.

I’ve never heard this speech in its entirety. Watching this is surreal.

Listening to him makes you realize just how good a job Denzel did when he played him in his bioflick.
