Lil Wayne [via ESPN]: ‘I’d probably tell A-Rod to retire at this point.’

Posted by Juan

Weezie also corrects a mistake I never got around to bashing him on

ESPN

For those of you sports fans out there in the Nation you’ve probably been a little disgusted by being subjected to random insertions of Lil Wayne into daily dose of ESPN staples like “Around The Horn.” While I feel his appearances on the network are nauseating and water down the quality of highly respected sports terrain, I do feel that his blogs on ESPN.com are not only entertaining but insightful.  Its clear that Wayne is a genuine sports fan I just can’t put up with his overly-tattooed mug and whinney kid voice.

That all being said, in his recent post on his not-so-regular-anymore blog, Weezie weighs in on his thoughts about the whole A-Rod controversy and even suggests that if he was his manager he’d “probably tell him to retire.”

“Does anyone actually believe he only took steroids for two years but then stopped voluntarily before he got busted? That really makes no sense. If I were his manager or his agent right now I’d be asking him to tell me, look, is there anything else? Did you do anything else at any other time? Because if he did, and it comes out later, then his career is a big zero…”

“If I were his manager I wouldn’t know what to tell him other than to play his butt off. Hell, I’d probably just tell him to retire at this point. You know there’s something else that’s gonna come out, and he better retire and sell his book before it comes out and he turns into Canseco. But he’s not going to retire so the one thing I would tell him to do right now is focus on being a better teammate. He needs to bust his ass for his team and hope they have his back because it’s going to be a long season.”

I have to also give Weezie some props for openly admitting one of his many mistakes he made on the air.  It takes a real man to say you’re wrong.  I’m talking about Lil Wayne not A-ROD…how ironix.

“When I was on Around the Horn I made a mistake when I said he should work with parents to explain the dangers of steroids to kids. I thought about it and really, it’s not his responsibility to teach kids right from wrong; that falls on the parents. The parents should be pointing to this guy and talking to their kids about how what he did was irresponsible and wrong. I always say I don’t like being a role model, so A-Rod shouldn’t be one, either.”

The real reason he’s backtracking here isn’t because he did some soul searching its because he relized that just days earlier he told “Ms. Katie” Couric that he’s not a role model and kids shouldn’t look up to him but then flips it on A-Rod days later placing blame.  I picked it up as soon as he mentioned it and I’m sure his publicists did as well.

Coach K and Dos Un: Co-Ceos of the Secret Society of Secret Wayne Love-Haters.

“Secretly wishing to Be like Weezy”

      • Your right, I use to LOVE most of his stuff, now I HATE most of his stuff. That was never a secret on this site.

        • Aside from me hating the CONSTANT auto-tune/vocoder usage. He’s obviously appealing to a different market, which dont get me wrong, can be a good thing. But for me personally, the music isn’t as quality as it use to be. He’s just saying anything out of his mouth.

Same thing I feel with Kanye, I can find 4-5 off the 808 that I can vibe with. But overall I’m not gonna up an tell everybody its great. I’m into when Kanye was talkin more about the Struggle, & not ALWAYS hot fresh Louie V. in Paris is. Its like his balance tipped.

im glad he digressed…got off Manny fresh’s McBeats… i like the vocoder. just a new/old wrinkle in hip hop. TI used on my beat on paper trail.

i’m a musician. so anything musical its hard for me to knock it…

about kanye. i feel him. he’s avant-garde. a LeftFielder. i’d rather here yeezy and weezy exploring different flavors of hip-hop than hear 16-19 yr old tryn to make the new “JigDanceSong”….ricky bobby halle berry rick flair…man they playin bull on dallas radio….

        • LOL@ McBeats, yeah he was one of my favs then.

I feel you on bein diverse about music, as a piano player myself. I love anything that is GOOD in whatever genre of music. I feel it makes for a good producer(Which I am if I do say so myself)

But its the bandwagoning that gets to me. That and over saturation. Only some cats can get away with goin with “what’s hot.” But I like to hear it when one tries to beat that out, & not just recreate it an just throw it out there for us the consumer to just except it.

Ron Brownz went from creating something as original as the “Nas-Ether” track to doin 3-4 of the same sounding music he has out right now.
          *
The new jigdance song thing is a quiKk dollar thing to me. Yeah every state I hit, radio the same.
          *
As far as left-fielders, cant nobody say nothing to me about Andre 3000 or Prince. All about the music.
