Watching Black History: The Underground Railroad – Using Quilts as Codes

A preservation effort is underway in Congress to save hundreds of sites that served as stops on the Underground Railroad.

During the times of slavery, blacks were considered less than human. Comparable to animals or material possessions. That fact makes it that much more amazing to hear about some of the genius ideas they were coming up with. Check out the video which talks about how codes were embedded in quilts to give slaves instructions on where to go when they made their escapes.
