Watching Black History: Melba Pattillo Beals – In Her Own Words

40 years later, Melba Pattillo Beals tells her story of being one of the Little Rock Nine, the group of nine black students who ended segregation at Central High School in Little Rock.

Melba Pattillo was one of the first black students to attend the previously all white Central High School in Little Rock. This is her telling the story of how hard it was as she looks back at the diary she kept at the time.
