Watching Black History: Ernest Green’s Story – Integrating Central High School

Ernest Green is the first black student to graduate from Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Green looks back at the first days of desegregation and his experiences going to Central High.

To think, blacks had to fight just to go to school. Now we gotta fight with them half the time to get the to go to school.

    Most kids don’t even want to go to school and look what Ernest had to go to just to check in at home room. The striking thing about this bit of history is how YOUNG Ernest is. We always think about segregation, well I do, as something that took place so long ago.
