Soulja Boy Vs. Bow Wow
Zack: I want to look at the Soulja Boy/Bow Wow to show how obvious it is that the two are trying to sell records
Guest blogger Zack is a Chicago native and runs the blog Go Zack and works in the field of public relations.
Everybody knows that 101% of current rap beefs are fake, especially when neither party gets hurt. Yet, you have to wonder why the latest beef between Soulja Boy and Bow Wow looks so fake that it seems real.
This is the work of their publicists (assuming that they are not the same person). As a publicist, I can tell you that the two fellas should have tried something better to get the fans attention. Hell, even the fans are admitting that this is fake.
The Quick Story
Soulja Boy is mad at Bow Wow for talking slick about the robbery/home invasion incident last month. So, they are trading snaps back and forth about who can reach the top shelf of the refrigerator. (Everybody knows that Bow Wow can barely reach the bottom shelf) But still, it just seems like both guys are desperate for album sales.
In my opinion, Soulja Boy’s album tanked because of poor planning. You never release your sophomore album on the same day as two heavy hitters- Jamie Foxx and Keyshia Cole. Now, he wants to at least make his album seem more ‘hood by reneging on his promise to little kids that he will clean up his act. None of that is working, especially when every one knows that Bow Wow’s album comes out next month.
So what should they do?
First, they need to squash this beef because nobody’s buying it. I’m more interested in watching two old ladies box over a parking space than watch this tomfoolery. But I would suggest trying a completely new PR strategy.
Market Your Music To A New Audience
- Try the suburban demographic again, but inner city folks ain’t buying it (literally). For Soulja Boy, he should rework some of his songs in a special re-release called “iNeedyall2buymyalbumplease”.
Collaborate On A Diss Record
- Instead of us having to sit through two horrible diss records, why not trade verses on the same song. Then maybe both of them could make some money off what they are doing.
Ask Fans For Suggestions on Improving Your Lyrics
- This is the most important suggestion and it really has nothing to do with PR. But if this is done right, major news outlets will start covering this story.

So, they pretty much finished their beef before anyone could even hear their “Diss” tracks. Anyway, they probably had girlies calling them up nonstop askin “BUT I THOUGHT YOU AND BOW WOW WUZ COOL” lol.

The Dissing each other on the same record is actually a good idea. Not revolutionary though dancehall artists do it all the time. I would be curious to see how it would work in hip-hop.I thought Bow Wow and Soulja Boy were for the kids now they gettin robbed and beefin w/each other. Do you hear about Miley Cyrus gettin robbed and the Jonas Brothers making fun of her, ridiculous.
Exactly wasn’t Soulja Boy reluctant to share the details of his home invasion because he was worried about the innocence of his young fans being in jeopardy. You could pick this silly little beef apart from so many angles.

Well to me thats a whole bunch of nonsense! Bowwow made souilja boys career and he got the nerve to be dissin bowwow like he’s the one at fault! bowwow got the best album and soulja boy got a good one but its just not up to bows standards yet.
