Full Lil Wayne Interview With Katie Couric

Posted by Juan

Did you watch?

Lil Wayne and Katie Couric

Lil’ Wayne took gold and platinum diamond studded teeth to a whole other level Wednesday when his groundbreaking interview with CBS anchor Katie Couric aired.

One of the key points as you’ll see from the interview below is that Wayne insists that what you see is not necessarily what you get. “I have ‘misunderstood’ [tattooed] on my face because I do feel that a lot of times I’m very misunderstood.”

We’ve debated with some of the Wayne fans among the Highbrid Nation about Lil Wayne’s ability to be understood.  While his last album “Tha Carter III” sold nearly 3 million copies, it seems hard to fathom how that many fans could literally understand what he was saying but whatever the case may be his formula works.

ESPN has hired him to guest blog weekly on their website and his column has been critically acclaimed and now the Couric Interview.  While we may hate on his music you gotta respect his gangsta.

Lil’ Wayne: “I am gangster, Miss Katie.”

Katie Couric: “What does that mean, when you say ‘I’m a gangster’?”

Wayne: I don’t take nothin’ from no one. I do what I wanna do. And I’m gonna do that until the day I die. And if I can’t do that, then I’ll just die.”

“I believe that music is another form of news,” he told Couric. “Music is another form of journalism to me so I have to cover all the areas with my album.”

While I can’t agree with him there I  do have to send a rare salute to Lil Wayne (that’s the second one I believe) for his giant step last night.  Good ish.

  1. Him saying, “Miss Katie” keep ringing in my ear. It sounds so foreign, yet funny.

These journalist hear what they want. He didn’t say he was “a gangster” but rather “gangster” in the way he handles himself. Isn’t there a difference or is it just me?

  2. Sasse says:

    there’s no difference

    • So it’s just me then. I don’t see Wayne being the type of gun slinging gangster I know the word to mean. I know he does drugs but is he selling it too? (not quite sure why I’m old school in my thoughts today)

I’m with you. I think Wayne’s moves into the ESPN circle and this interview are gangsta because they’re authoritative. I guess the word can be interchangeable with Rick Ross’ “boss”

  3. GANGSTER!?! LMAO!!! A confused gangster…you claim soo-wuu an yet admitted to not knowing much about the history/present day of the Bloods & Crips! Sounds more like you “Ridin that Fad” an not that 5ive. I doubt you got your “31 seconds.”
