50 Cent the #2 Top Earning African American Star?

Forbes lists Fif right behind Oprah. We go inside the numbers

Forbes today released their list of their Top Earning African American Stars. In light of Barack Obama‘s recent White House victory, the Financial heads have been keeping a very close eye on African American earners to see if the rumored Obama effect has any impact on the reshaping black’s disproportionate representation in the wealthy class.

While it may come as no surprise that Oprah Winfrey yet again topped the list, her power figures have definately been affected by her very public backing of then Democratic candidate, Barack Obama. None the less, the boss lady raked in a reported 275 Million during the survey period (June 2007- 2008)

Much to my surprise, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson comes in the #2 slot with an estimated $150 Million. The award is somewhat skewed as most of the earnings were from the $100 Mill he banked from the 2007 sale of Vitamin water to Coca Cola 4.1 Billion.

Tyler Perry rounds off the top 3 rolling in with $125 Million. His films have made an estimated $250 Million to date, folks have bought 25 Million of his DVDs and he has two hit TBS sit-coms and now owns a major TV and film studio.
