[RANT] Bill O’Rielly vs. Young Jeezy & Jay-Z
Misplaced bitterness over Obama Victory?
Everyone’s familiar with Young Jeezy’s “My President is Black” record and the inauguration remix cameoed by Jay-Z. You may also be aware of the smoldering debate instigated by Fox News conservative mouthpiece Bill O’Rielly over the “behavior” and lyrics of the rap duo in the song and specifically at the concert on the eve of the inauguration.
“I want to thank two people,” Jeezy said at the concert. “I want to thank the motherf*cker overseas that threw two shoes at George Bush. And I want to thank….and I want to thank the motherf*cker who helped him move his sh*t out the white house. Keep it moving bitch because my president is motherf*cking black n*gga.”
Jay-Z Later chimes in with an impromptu acapella freestyle
“You can keep your p*ssy/ I don’t want no more Bush. No more War/ No more Iraq/ No more white lies/ My President is Black!”
Being the opportunistic bitter Republican Bill O’Rielly is he’s decided to launch a political campaign against the rappers in effort to appeal to logical fallacy to indirectly disparage the integrity of Barack Obama.
“Jay-Z should know better. I don’t know much about Young Jeezy. I guess they didn’t get the memo about bringing the country together. I don’t think Barack Obama would approve that. I think its low class. Jay-Z, I’ve met him a few times. He seems to be a sane individual…that was aweful.”

While I do agree that Jay and Jeezy are in appropriate in their portrayals SO F*CKING WHAT! They’re artist. Just like painters, sculptors and other white musicians. Lets not make this a case where President Obama is guilty by association…an association of being BLACK! Let’s set the record straight. Black America and specifically artist don’t now have to be on their best behavior because we have a black president. AMERICA has to be on its best behavior because we have a CAPABLE PRESIDENT.
Now O’Rielly wants Jeezy to be a guest on his show. That’s all about ratings. He thinks his experience in the political genre will afford him the opportunity to intellectually terrorize and embarrass Jeezy on TV. Good for Jeezy for refusing. Always fight your battles on your home turf. What if Jeezy invited O’Rielly to a freestyle battle on the topic who would win? Come on its an unfair fight. Lets not be stupid.
On the other hand I have to send a thumbs up to corny ass Dennis Miller who said “I’m sorry Jay-Z and Young Emphysema could not join me in that happiness.“ While his little slight at Jeezy’s not funny he is however right. He doesn’t have to care what they think and I do feel bad that Jay and Jeez don’t feel like I do but that’s why America’s great…they don’t have to.
O’Rielly’s rant is misplaced bitterness over his disappointment that President Obama now occupies the White House. He’s appealing to the audience and the media’s ignorance by trying to somehow, however subliminally it may be, attempt to draw a correlation between the actions of rappers who support the President and his Obama’s integrity.
Regardless of Jay-Z’s equity in the public eye, he is not obligated to uphold any type of political standard. REMEMBER…I don’t agree with the song nor the ad lib comments however I’m upset that O’Rielly’s trying to convince you that AS AN ARTIST Jay has no right to make them.
Hey Bill…there’s this thing called the 1st Amendment. You should read it. Like you its pretty old but its important and you’re definately NOT!

JUAN, you know I blogged about this on Facebook. You not gon’ shout me out?
Just kidding! You actually added more than I could. Good job!
Good ish
Bill O’Reily better relax and take a nap and have himself a green tea like mama wallace would say, and America better chill. I feel the presure to behave myself 24/7 and I can’t take it anymore…I need to tell a few people things about themselves every 2 hours and I can’t have people deny me of my right dammit! People expect black people to be perfect all of a sudden because we have a black president when he ain’t even perfect his damn self. I admire obama I do but everyone can stand around and hale obama like he’s god and like his poo sparkles with glee but I know that man is just a man by the end of the day. Jay-Z and Jeezy were saying what everyone else was thinking people need to get over it and move on not everything black people do represents the whole black america shoo if thats the case then dammit I blame the white’s for the recession! <— see that’s not right
I have to agree with Bill on this one. Them cats are suppose to be rolemodels for the hood and they not living up to that standard. It use to be we could look up to cats that made it big and they represented us well.
Now a days we don’t have that and we wonder why our kids be wildin out, look at the example we create for ourselves.
Dudes can’t get mad when others point that out, they are in the public eye.
I agree Juan and m.y.! It’s unfair to expect every black artists to now censor themselves in fear of getting Obama’s presidency indirectly soiled. Rappers have been sayin nigga since forever, so they are supposed to stop now that our president is black? Rappers been mad at the gov/system since forever, so they’re supposed to stop that too? Do I believe that as a people, we need to hold ourselves to a higher standard and push harder to become whatever it is that we dream? Yes I do. Obama is inspiration. He is the example. He made it happen. Now we can believe that if we keep pushing we can make it too. BUT THAT’S WHERE IT ENDS. We are not obligated to ANYONE to change any aspect of our culture or forget all that we had to go through to get to this point. The reality is that despite this “unity party” this country is in the middle of, we still have a LOT of problems with race and perception. Why ignore that? These conservative Obama haters are somehow convinced that we don’t have a reason to feel in-equal anymore and racism is erradicated. This is extremely fals and they know it. It’s just a way for them to relieve themselves from any guilt/blame for injustices against us. They just couldn’t wait for a reason to finally place ALL of the blame for our underachievement on ourselves, not on the instutional flaws of the country. Obama winning provided that out! But we’re not stupid. We’re gonna fall for it. I say to Jay and Jeez don’t apologize for nothin! Because at the end of the day, the people who “get” them as artists and what they mean to the black community, know their intentions and know that they are just as proud and hopeful and engaged they are in being better people for themselves and for the hip hop generation. As long as WE KNOW, that’s all that matters. The people who don’t “get” it, never did and prob never will.
My point was that these cats are in the public eye. Can’t nobody get mad if others point out negative ish they see. We (black peole) point out thing we disagree with all the time. It goes both ways. All I’m sayin is when are we going to hold ourselves to a higher standard like big mamma and them use to do back in the day.
I see your point. But what I’m saying is that all of a sudden, everything that Jay or any black person in the “public eye” has to watch what they say? Jay was not politically tied to Obama. He did not head his campaign. He did does not hold a place on his cabinet. But if he says “nigga” then somehow he is to be held accountable for making the president look bad because they’re both black? That’s irrepsonsible journalism to report that as news. If Britney Spears went to a concert and called Bush a “white honky” would she be held accountable for making Mccain “look bad” is he was president? It’s not fair.
It ain’t got nothing to do if OBAMA MAN!!!!!!
We have been needing to get back to a place with values for a long time. For far to long we have let ignorant people make us look bad. The fact that we don’t have enough positive rolemodels has taken its toll on our people to where we let hood cats be the standard and look where it has gotten us.
I mean, It ain’t got nothing to do with OBAMA man!!!
my bad
You guys are now missing the point, the argument made. Its not that Juan is condoning the behavior its the fact that Bill O’Reilly is somehow trying to say that the misbehavior of Hov and Jezzy has somehow tarnished the image of the President. Its an illogical argument based on an irrelevant premise. O’Reilly knows this and he’s banking on folks like d-tae to agree that his premise is “TRUE” and disregard that it is in anyway applicable with his conclusion.
Deeny coming through as always. Great Job. You make another great point I neglected to in my rant. This “Unifying of the Nation” bit that O’Reilly is talking is not yours, my, Jeezy or Jay-Z’s responsibilities. In fact lets take stock at who is more at fault for the cleavage in the first place, extremist media and who is more extremely biased than FOX News?
I somewhat agree with d-tae on this one. We do have to hold ourselves to a higher standard, which is really what we have always done. We have prospered in the midst of oppression and racism, so that makes our people look pretty damn good in my eyes. Only in this country, which happens to be a rather racist one, can folks like Jay Z and Jeezy still manage to become a success. So, you dislike some things about America on one hand but you love this country for certain things on another hand.
I’m sorry, I have to go with Bill. Just because you have a microphone in your hands do not give you the right to say anything. Yes there is freedom of speech but do we have to be ignorant about it? First of all throwing shoes at Bush was an insult to America. They totaly disrespected US! And what I’m not agreeing with is just because Barack is a black man that we fill he will make things easier for us. Just like he said we need to put ourselves in position to take a piece of the pie when it’s available. He’s not giving us anything. Just like the black designers are upset that Michelle didn’t choose them. Come on people. He is the President of the United States, Not the President of Black America. Stop the Jesse Jacskon Al Sharp ish and stpe into the A.M. get your own ish togehter and take care of what’s your. NO MORE THE WHITE MAN IS HOLDING ME BACK. Jay Z you are a business man. These white folks can shut you down if they wanted to. Ask Vick.
Jaxon221 may I ask that you please re-read the post. I’m in no way condoning the behavior of the two. In fact I could write a whole other post concerning their lyrics and the whole “Our President” thing but I won’t…not yet.
.
Instead what I’m doing here is calling Bill O’Reilly out for tricking his audience and perhaps you as well into thinking that somehow the words or actions of some insignificant individuals could tarnish the office of the presidency.
.
See Bill and his bunch of conservative goons realize as they should that President Obama’s squeaky clean image is impenetrable and his administration will likely be without the controversy characterized by our last two presidents. Bill and his Fox News mafia will have very little ammunition to propel at the oval office. Instead he’s sharpening his sword by resorting to logical fallacy arguments. Using the actions of others to disparage the deeds of another is silly AND THAT IS WHAT I’VE GOT BEEF WITH!
My 2cents, 1st Amendment! Because our President happens to be black people have to now censor their feelings and words? I think not. Due to Jay and Jeezy being in the public eye their words are going to get put out in the public eye to be criticised.
What I don’t get is how are Jay and Jeezy’s words at all going to affect the Presidents image? Jay and Jeezy are not setting political policies, or a member of the White House Staff. Bill O’Reilly as usual wants to start some ish and Jeezy is dumb enough to fall for it. Jeezy mgr and pr person should know better. Since he is going on there he needs to flip it and really do some media training and research on Bill and his history of antics he has pulled.
This isnt an issue of race. I hate rap music because the message it sends to its listeners. This is an issue of the lifestyle rap music has created. The lifestyle that positively associates drug use, alcohol use, and violence. We live in a generation were girls are now bitches and hoes. Where it is uncommon to know what a Kilo means at a young age. It’s not just the “black” rappers that are doing this. Rap music in general especially the “gangster” rap has helped escalate the drug problems in this country, murder rates, and domestic violence rates. If you seriously think that rap music does not have a negative influence on it’s listeners trhen most likely you live that lifestyle and are just trying to defend it. Simply stating YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!
No…I think you as an outsider…one who doesn’t spend much time researching and experiencing the culture/music can’t appreciate much more than what Bill O’Reilly and others use as examples. Sure there’s a dark side to everything. Most all music dating back to early stages of rock and roll features musicians strung out on drugs. Stop picking on rap because its’ an easy target.
Haha I experiienced the cultrue first hand my man. I spent four years thinking I was “Gangster”, which got me prison time for actually participating in a drive by shooting. All those guys I used to hang out with were born into that culture, so I realize it is much harder for them to change their ways. The thing is they all listen to “Gangster” rap, and have that hustlers ambition like Jeezy talks about. These rappers don’t care about the kids that look up to them, they just want them to buy their records so they can continue to talk about how much money they have. Yes it was rock music that started this crap back in the day, I won’t argue that, but it isn’t back in the day anymore. Rap music has become the new music for most young people, you hear it at school dnaces and all over the radio. Im not saying it’s all rap music, but the popular rappers such as Jeezy, TI, Eminem, or whoever associates drugs and violence as something that is normal are a huge problem. I mean the easiest way to learn something is through reputition, whether it’s practicing a sport or studying for a test. So the easiest way to learn a negative lifestyle is to continuly listen to music that promotes such a lifestyle.
Oh and thanks for calling me an outsider. That just means im not like the rest of our f’ed up world:)
