While The Economy Wains, The Sex Industry Has Built-In ‘Stimulus’
Breaking down Strippernomics on Sex Street
While the economy hits Defcon Toilet, Forbes is reporting that Strip clubs and other adult/sex businesses are experiencing a boom. Here are some stats:
Rick’s Cabaret International, a nationwide chain of 19 titty bars reported 2008 revenue was up 87% to $60 million from the previous year and recorded just over $1 million in revenue in December at it New York location alone.
AdultVest, the first hedge fund for porn, reported a 50% rise in its returns last year
AdultFriendFinder (Penthouse magazine’s parent company) felt confident enough to float a $400 million IPO in December although they haven’t yet gone public.
Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and “Girls Gone Wild’s” Joe Francis are doing so well that they recently mocked the economic state when they asked Washington for a $5 billion “stimulus” package for the porn industry in early January.
“Americans can do without cars,” said Flynt. “They cannot do without sex.”
Funny…but apparently he’s right but what’s causing this boom in the sex industry? The fact is sex for most is a staple like bread or milk and typically the last sacrifice people make when the money dries up. So if you’re out of work, recently been laid off and are thinking about entrepreneurial opportunities, don’t laugh Sex might just be your best option. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

I’m not surprised, especially since alot of couples & married couples split up because of the common money relationship problems. AND IN THESE TIMES having those problems…….I saw that as more people “gettin it in” & relieving stress.
