MARKETING MATTERS: Gatorade Goes Hard After Hip Hop’s ‘G’s’
With a new marketing strategy, sports drink king seeks the endorsement of urban culture
Gatorade recently launched its new Gatorade G campaign featuring some very expensively simple commercial spots featuring virtually all of the sports drink’s athletes from the most highly profiled like Micheal Jordan, Dr. J and Muhammad Ali to the less exposed autistic hoop star Jason “J-Mac” McElwain with a voice-over courtesy of new found sports junkie, Lil Wayne.
Well it appears the hip hop infusion into Gatorade’s newest line of sports drinks was no accident. The marketing minds at Gatorade have apparently put together this promotional package designed to even wow the very high end tastes of Hip Hop’s elite. Check out Snoop Dogg’s manager Ted Chung as he take’s you on the tour of the very welcomed gift he received in the mail.
