BREAKING NEWS: BART Police Officer Faces Murder Charge in Subway Shooting
Johannes Mehserle arrested and charged with the murder of Oscar Grant
Former BART police officer accused of shooting an unarmed man at a northern California commuter train station was arrested Tuesday in Nevada according to CNN and the San Francisco Chronicle.
Former Bay Area Rapid Transit Officer, Johannes Mehserle has been arrested and charged with homicide in connection with the death of Oscar Grant on New Years day. Although Mehserle was cooperative and surrendered without incident it appears he was on the run when investigators tracked him down in Zephyr Cove, Nevada. Mehserle who was arrested on fugitive warrant has waived extradition and should return soon to California.
We first reported on the story when video of the incident captured by several witnesses was published to the web. All week the Bay Area has been hit with a slew of violent protests.
As the video below shows Mehserle shoot Grant in the back as another BART officer kneeled on him. Grant was being arrested following a fight at the subway station but police are not saying if he was involved in the melee.
Shout to Malcolm for the heads up.

NYPD could take a lesson from BART.
wow i see this has taken a twist. So they are charging him with murder now but has he been convicted/sentenced yet???? Im curious to see how they are gonna convict him on the murder. They will have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he Murdered the guy. There must be other charges on the table too like manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, etc. Juan please keep us abreast of any update im very interested to see how this pans out!!!!
Either way we’re moving many steps closer to an outcome you said less than a week ago was impossible.
he’ll be found guilty of something. hopefully, it wont be a deja vu of the last peoples vs the cops in court. we dont need no more of that.
