Snoop Cuts Dre’s Throat, Drops His Own Headphone Line
Music accessory co., Skullcandy partners with Snoop Dogg, Mix Master Mike & The Beasty Boys
Am I the only one that thinks it odd that on Tuesday audio accessory company, Skullcandy announced the release of a Snoop Dogg inspired line of headphones? With the announcement coming on the heels of Dr. Dre’s own headphone deal with Monster Cable last year, it puts the two road dogs in direct competition.
Given that there’s an extremely small market of hip hop artist inspired headphone collections, Snoop’s decision to endorse the line of products especially given his wealth of other ventures is curious. It leads me to believe the relationship between the two might not be as stong as it once was but on second though money is money.
Snoop’s extreme bass amplified headphones inspired pair are scheduled to hit stores late 09 and will be aimed at consumers while a second set of Skullcandy’s headphones in development inspired by Beaty Boys, Mix Master Mike will target DJ’s.
As part of the partnership, Snoop Dogg and Mix Master Mike will headline a performance at the Skullcandy sponsored Snowsports Industries America show in Las Vegas on Jan 28.
