Marketing Matters: iTunes Changes Pricing and Removes Copy Protection
Apple says if you cant beat em Join em
Yesterday at the Macworld Conference in San Fransisco (or as Dave Chapelle put it “America’s Anus”) Apple announced that it is introducing a three tier pricing system, beginning in April iTunes songs will be either .69, .99, or $1.29. The record companies will decide the price for each song. I’ve heard that the older songs will be cheaper where new songs will be at the $1.29 tier. Apple also announced the it will remove copy protection software from all its digital music.
