Despite His Recent Ass Whoopin’ De La Hoya To Return to the Ring?
The Golden Boy could fight Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr in farewell bout
So get this, news reports from Puerto Rico and Mexico have indicated that Oscar De La Hoya, who recently had his face reconfigured by the lighter pipsqueekier Manny Pacquiao plans to fight again and not just anyone. He plans to fight the undefeated Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. Chavez is of course the son of boxing legend, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. who suffered two derailing defeats at the hands of De La Hoya late in his career and would set up a storybook match up for the younger Chavez who like De Lay Hoya is from Mexico.
The rumored fight could possibly take place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City which holds an estimated 100,000 people. Although nothing has been confirmed by either camp any fight at this point in his career could prove dangerous and perhaps life threatening given De La Hoya’s recent performances. Although Oscar hasn’t formerly retired, all indications point to the fact that he will. However as the streets start buzzing about the possible bout with Jr., the potential pay day could blind Oscar of potential risk.
I’ve never been a fan of the Golden Boy and have witnessed nearly his entire career on television, however as much as I’ve always wished he’d get his ass beat its reached a stage where I do honestly fear for his safety and long-term well being. In a sport where the heroes have literally vanished along with Mike Tyson’s sanity its important that Oscar and his Golden Boy outfit be able to search for that next great star or else the sport will fade into “bolivian”

My wife has been a huge fight fan and a fan of Oscar for years (even has signed “Golden Boy” gloves). Unfortunately, the glitter has come off the Gold. De la Hoya continues to chase the dollar as too many of the great fighters have done and is destroying the image.
He must keep in mind that he also has a ‘Brand’ to promote and he, The Ex-Man, and certainly Suger Shane (already done and fighting Balco reports)should be focused on building the promo side with new fighters.
This fight is only good if Chavez Jr. is signed on to Golden Boy promotions and he’s handing off the torch to a new relevant Mexican fighter for the next few years.
No Chavez unfortunately isn’t signed to Golden Boy but the fight will be promoted in part by Golden Boy. Thanks for the input, I like your wife, is a huge fight fan as well. Oscar…not so much.
fade into bolivian…LOL classic post iron mike tyson foolish commentary. Yeah DelaHoya needs to hang it up, but chavez Jr. is nowhere near as fast as pacquio, so this will be a somewhat safe opponent for his farewell bid.
