Common Host Private ‘Universal Mind Control’ Listening Party

Posted by Juan

I’m confused. I thought dude didn’t even like the album.

Common

We’ve talked ad nauseum about Common’s Universal Mind Control album and how he believes it sucks.  As a person who somehow has it on his iPod but didn’t purchase it (crazy how that happens)  I think he’s honestly being too hard on himself.  It doesn’t SUCK its just not as good as his last two efforts and harpens back to his rookie/ novice days.

Its a rushed project at the end of the day with some weak ass production and that’s ok.  We’re used to it by now.  I think somewhere along the line Common realized even in his half-assed efforts he’s worked harder than most artist and his true fans forgive him so he’s since picked up his promotion of the album.

Recently Common with the help of DJ Hyphen and J. Moore’s Sound Session gave 50 not so lucky fans an intimate listening session for Universal Mind Control.  Common breaks down the whole album track by track including personal anecdotes and the behind the scenes brainstorming behind each tracks.
