BEEF: Katt Williams (New School) Spits Venom @ Steve Harvey (Old School)
Jamie Foxx instigates like a kid in the school yard (Some funny Ish!)
You may or may not be surprised that behind of course our “Fat Back” tag one of our most heavily trafficked tags is “beef.” Its what’s sexy, and sex sells…its what compels us, controversy keeps us captivated. That’s why we have to be careful when we report certain beef news between artists as often times they’re fabricated to draw attention to an upcoming project or event.
So could that very same technique be in play with an emerging beef between stand up Katt Williams and voice of the old school, Steve Harvey? Officiated the bout is fellow comic Jamie Foxx who recently threw the beef into the national spotlight when he addressed it on his Sirius XM radio show, FoxxHole. (audio after the jump.)
Throwing gasoline on the smoldering fire, Foxx plays a clip of Williams dissing Harvey:
“I wanna apologize for what’s gonna happen,” Williams said of comedy duet. “But the second that you get on stage, I need you to understand that that’s your final time as the ‘King of Comedy.’ Water seeks its own level, you can’t stop it playboy. It is what it is, so I hope you’re ready. I hope you got a team of writers. You gonna need about six or seven of ‘em….”
Hearing Williams’ comments, veteran Steve Harvey calls in shocked and confused by the unexpected jabs.
“I’ve always been cool with Katt. He said in an interview that back in LA, I didn’t know who he was. I mean understand, I didn’t know who he was when I was on the radio in LA. He hadn’t been in any movies or anything, and the brother was just not that known. He was talking about me in the clubs, and I just asked on the radio, whoever Katt Williams is, to call me. He called me, we straightened it out. We became friends. We’ve been cool ever since, so I thought.”
Katt has obviously had some problems in recent months but one thing no one will ever question is if he’s funny. Its hard to tell in the early stages of this emerging controversy if his animosity towards Harvey is genuine or fabricated to promote the upcoming joint appearance at Detriot’s Joe Louis Arena on New Years Eve but time will tell. If these two go at it in a war of funny words though it could be of epic proportions. I’ll keep an eye on this one for you.

Katt Williams Venom
Part II

I just wrote about this on my PR Blog . Sometimes it’s obvious that “beefs” are manufactured for publicity purposes. But sometimes, they are not.
I think I may have written about Katt just last year on HN. I was a big supporter of Katt Williams and then I saw him when he was in town last January. He was the worst performer I have ever seen. He was so drunk and high that he couldn’t perform. He kept talking about how he wanted out the business and how he didn’t want to be out on the stage. People were so fed up that they demanded their money back. He promised to refund the audience. We never were and honestly I don’t care, I just wanted to see some original jokes. Katt’s whole performance was the same jokes as in the dvds.
Katt has really crossed the line by talking about Steve Harvey. I gotta say that Steve Harvey is a real gentleman.
Interesting because I saw him at Radio City and not only was he funny but he had a soft undertone of inspiration behind his routine. It was really good and he got a standing O
Katt is not a great comedian. He is not funny and if you think he is you dont know comedy
Then I guess don’t know comedy.
.
I honestly feel that he must be funny to SOME people because his DVDs sell like hotcakes. It’s his ability to poke fun at himself that makes people feel comfortable with him. But he does need some improvement.
Yeah I’m going to have to disagree. While comedy is clearly subjective and to each his own, Its very apparent that Katt has a gift to influence the crowd with laughter, to deny that would be just plain hating.
aint none of them as good as Richard Pryor so that right there will kill at that mess!! but, they both have their own brand of comedy. some people laff, some dont, at both comedians.
Rich is dead Macika. Sure its good to look back like we do with B.I.G. and Pryor but we’ve gotta pass the torch also.
