Jay-Z and Beyonce To Perform At Obama’s Inauguration?

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

Reports are coming in that the inauguration may be one of the hottest concerts of the year.

We mentioned it a few times here on HN that Jay-Z was campaigning hard for Obama. Free concerts. Viral videos. The Obama campaign was using Jigga in any way, shape or form they could find. All of Jay-Z’s work was selfless for the most part as it seemed he just truly wanted to see Barack Obama elected. Looks like his hard work may not come without reward as various sources are saying that Leona Lewis, Jay-Z, Beyonce Knowles are all in talks to perform at the event. Beyonce has even been quoted about the chance of her performing:

“I’m there. I can’t wait. I feel like all of us, we’re ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want. If they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I’m there, and I’m ready.”

If this is indeed the case it would be a monumental moment for hip hop. However the inclusion and exclusion of others is a bit curious. First of all, isn’t Leona Lewis British? She really has no place at an inauguration for a United States president, does she? It supposed to be a celebration for Americans right? And what about Ludacris, Nas and will.i.am? Didn’t they work just as hard as Jay-Z to get Obama elected?

What do you guys think?
