The Roots To Become House Band For NBC’s “Late Night”

Posted by Juan

This is HUGE for Hip Hop…but did someone jump the gun on the announcement?

The Roots

In very exciting news, The Roots have been named the new house band for NBC’s “Late Night” when former Jimmy Fallon replaces Conan O’Brien as host this coming March according to Okayplayer.com. O’Brien will move up the totem pole to “The Tonight Show,” where he will replace the boring Jay Leno. Fallon and The Roots were spotted doing a video shoot at the Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia’s Fishtown section early last week…well now we know why.

Of course this means that the band will probably have to fall back from their busy performing and touring schedule but a GREAT look for hip hop none the less.  In very suspicious and related news, the video clip of band leader ?uestlove making the announcement has mysteriously been removed from YouTube.  Even the post that came across my Feedreader from OkayPlayer has now been deleted from their site.  Did someone jump the gun?  I’ll do more digging and get back to you.  Talk amongst yourselves.
