People.com is reporting that Real Estate mogul, Donald Trump has been granting Jennifer Hudson and several of her relatives refuge at his Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago free of charge following the murders of her mother, brother and nephew.

“She’s a great girl and we’re protecting them well,” Trump bragged to People.com “They are very safe.”

Here’s my thing.  Perhaps I’m nitpicking as I always do but why does a man of Trump’s stature need to publicize his good deeds?  He’s got all the money in the world its not like him hosting Hudson is hurting his pockets.  By going on the record even if prompted in an interview you diminish the benevolence in my eye because it taints the good deed as some sort of publicity maneuver.  Not to mention by doing so it makes the public more aware of where Hudson and the family are located making them more accessible to pesky fans and potentially the killer if in fact it is not her estranged brother-in-law William Balfour.

In other news involving the case, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Mississippi college student Rashia Whitlock told investigators that Balfour called her at 4 a.m. the day of the murders and told her he and his “boys” were “getting ready for something real big that’s going to go down tomorrow.” Balfour who met Whitlock on Myspace (of all places) then asked if they shack up with her but she declined. Whitlock also said Balfour asked her whether she knew Jennifer Hudson if Whitlock could be “loyal.”  The evidence continues to point to Balfour look for an indictment to come very soon.
