Doo Doo Fashion? Is Michelle’s Victory Lap Dress Worthy?
Critics aren’t feeling it but what does the Nation think?
One of the most immediate changes the first family experiences upon winning the White House is the constant and intense microscope under which every move is analyzed and dissected. I think its a pretty solid Highbrid Nation consensus that Michelle Obama could get it. But as she made her way to the stage at Chicago’s Grant Park on Tuesday night to congratulate her man following his speech we were looking at the bubble but some fashion critics were appaluled by the dress labeling it doo doo fashion.
Michelle has gone on record in the past as being an economical shopper who would sport some of the higher end runway style fashions worn by first ladies dating back to the glamorous Jackie Kennedy. The dress which was a modified design of Narciso Rodriguez was for a special occasion. Its original predecessor was presented in September for the 2009 spring season. But what do you think? Were the critics being harsh or is it deserving of the Doo Doo fashion stamp? Follow me after the jump to peep the original dress.
FILED IN Fashion, Need to Know

I personally thought the dress was kinda ugly when i first saw it.
Definitely catches the eye but I thought she should have worn blue. Its funny because Obama’s ties are almost always red, that’s kind of GOP.
I thought it was kinda fly. A female friend said that she looked like “the black widow”. I don’t know, probably not what we’ve grown to expect from the First Lady, but we (guys) are gonna be forgiving anway. Man, that backside!
At first I thought the dress made her look pregnant.
.
Give her time, I’m sure she didn’t have a $150k budget to play with.
I didnt think it highlighted her figure enough. Its a spring dress, which is why she wore that top over it. She should have shown off her figure in a modest way, of course.
i liked
it was nice.
It wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. It wasn’t her best but she could have put on worst. I’m just liking the color coordination between the entire family when the came out on stage.
As for Barack’s tie… I like the color choice. Not a presidential red but it works.
It wasn’t flattering and the cardigan made the gettup a little “frumpy” to borrow a term from my mo brethren.
I liked it because they matched with the kids…plus she’s not a model shes the “first mom!!!”
Juan, you and I have gone back and forth on a lot of issues, but we are simpatico here my brotha. That whole get-up stank.
I am so happy and proud to have a sista of Michelle’s caliber as our next First Lady. But this has go to stop right now! She had been doing pretty good for the most part, but she fell off big with this outfit.
However, here’s what redeems her. Her hair and Malia and Sasha’s hair was all on the one. And for that alone, I’ll give her a pass on the ugly dress. But it’s still ugly.
I liked it…She dresses like a lady and not a hoe…or a high priced stuck up chick.
Plus my fav colors are red and black…so I was good!
