Ludacris Finally Speaks On His Condemned Obama Song

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

Seems like Luda was smart enough not to cause more trouble than he did.

One of the things that I spoke often about while Barack Obama was campaigning was that if anyone might mess it up for that dude it was gonna be overzealous black people who didn’t know how to keep their mouths shut. One such example was Ludacris and his song “Politics” that he recorded for a mixtape. On the track he calls Hillary Clinton a b*tch and refers to George W. Bush as mentally handicapped (ironically Hillary ended up campaigning very hard for Obama and of course Bush is the reason Obama won). It actually wasn’t a bad song though it’s release was very ill timed. Right as Obama was trying to convince the country that he didn’t share the radical “angry black” views of Reverend Jerimiah Wright, here comes Ludacris with this song that the press could a field day with. Of course Obama condemned the song and most likely hurt Ludacris’ feeling but unlike Wright who made a public spectacle of himself when he felt Obama was throwing him under the bus, Ludacris has kept quiet on the matter until now.

All Hip Hop asked Ludacris, who had recently met with Obama himself, about this matter and this is what he said:

“The song was my artistic expression and was meant to get people who weren’t involved in the political process involved. Being as though it was the first mixtape to reach the United States government was a bit overwhelming.”

“What myself and the president spoke about is confidential, but I took it upon myself to not speak on the song because I did not want to further distract either candidate in dealing with the ancillary issues they had to face in order to become the next president of this country. Now that Barack has won, I can honestly say that we are all fortunate to witness a period in America’s history when we rose to our best.”

“We stood up and acknowledged that America’s true power is when people come together and focus on our possibilities rather than our differences. Obama’s focus is to bring this country together and move it forward as one united nation. I believe in him and what he stands for and wish him success!”

Good job Luda. Unlike others, you knew it was time to shut your mouth.

One Response to Ludacris Finally Speaks On His Condemned Obama Song

  1. Yeti says:

Luda is one of the few artists out there in hip-hop who knows the difference between playing “the game” and what really matters in life. I respect him a lot more for that. Other artists would have jumped on the publicity and made a big deal out of it.
