There Is No Excuse Not To Vote

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

Don’t wait until the last minute to know how, when and where you are going to vote.

For a lot of Americans who plan on voting in this year’s presidential election, this is the very first time they have ever voted. And even for some who have voted they may have forgotten how the process is done. Believe it or not this will be the very first time I’m been to the polls to vote.

During the last two presidential elections I was away from my home state of Pennsylvania. In 2000 I was at school in West Virginia and in 2004 I was in North Carolina training to deploy to Iraq. For both elections I did a absentee ballot and as a result I’ve never been to the polls in person. So for this election I did my research to make sure that my vote will be cast as easily as possible. Thankfully the Barack Obama campaign made this very simple for potential voters. All you have to do is go to VoteForChange.com and type in your name and where you are from and it will tell you where you have to vote. Don’t think you already know where to go because I was surprised to find out my polling location is near an address I only held briefly.

So go visit the site and make sure you know where to go. If your state allows early voting (unlike mine), then vote today and avoid the long lines. And for those of you who live in states that do not allow early voting then get there early be prepared to wait. Experts are predicting huge voter turnouts so don’t expect to get in and get out.

Don’t be lazy and not participate. You will likely regret it.

There really is no excuse not to vote.

Congratulations on your first in-person vote.
.
Call me silly, but there’s something special about going into the booth. Absentee voting always seems like paying a bill

I agree. I’m really excited to cast that vote in person. Seems a bt more tangible. And hopefully my vote will go towards making sure Obama gets the “tossup” state of PA

Its weird cause I seem to have been going to the polls since I was 18. I’m only 29 now but I feel like a nerd voting in EVERY election since including the very small elections for county magistrate.

That’s OK, I’m such a big supporter of the voting process, I vote at least 4 or 5 times on each election (j/k of course)

I’ve caught a lot of flack from my readers for deciding not to vote this year. It’s not that I want Obama to lose. But I just hate the fony nature of everybody caring about politics all of a sudden.

so you let the fact that other people are fake about politics and voting for the wrong reasons stop you from doing what is right and what should be in anyone’s eyes an honor? sounds like an excuse to me. you should NEVER let someone elses ignorance or their ability to be fake to stop you from anything. you don’t want to vote thats fine….just say that. my opinion of you in this decision will not matter nor will anyone elses. but i will SMH!!!
