Urban Comm. Hold “Election” to Decide Fate of Niggaspace.com

Posted by Juan

Our suspicions of alterior motivation are confirmed

Niggaspace

In the latest chapter of the NiggaSpace saga, Urban Communications has announced a “Keep or Kill NiggaSpace 2008″ online “election” to determine the fate of their recently acquired NiggaSpace.com.  Riding off the momentum and excitement surrounding the presidential election the “Keep or Kill NiggaSpace 2008″ election will be held via online-ballot located at NiggaSpace.com or KeeporKill08.com.  According to the press release, once 2,000,000 votes are cast, Urban Communications will honor the wishes of the majority.

“African Americans love or hate NiggaSpace.com, there’s no middle ground,” said Robert Butler, Marketing Director. “Collectively we thought that a democratic election by internet users should determine whether niggaspace.com is abolished or whether it will survive to upload again.”

When we first announced that the otherwise reputable company, Urban Communications had purchased the defunct website earlier this month we immediately speculated that the acquisition was a marketing/ business move.  Urban Communications was looking to benefit from the still very high residual traffic of a now defunct controversial site.  I’m not mad at that.  In very soon after the story was published a visitor known simply as “Rob” tipped us off that the purchase was made with the plan of hosting this “election.”  Rob is of course the aforementioned Robert Butler, Director of Marketing for Niggaspace/ Ourspace.   This is just further proof that in a society that celebrates capitolism there’s never a need to disguise such motivation.  Lets see how they do…I’ll keep you posted.  2 Million votes translates into a whole lot of traffic and hence revenue.

I guess there’s no hope that the web site will be used to promote a minority-owned astronaut corps?
    .
It honestly reminds me of an election-scam when I was 8 years old. A cereal maker had two cereals, Quisp and Quake. They decided to hold a write-in election to see which was the favorite, and promised that the loser would be taken off the market.
    .
Wouldn’t you know that after months of advertising the campaign, it wound up being a tie? Both cereals stayed.
    .
I’ve been a political cynic ever since.

yeah and they made tons of dollars from it. Great marketing concept though. And they say the economy is struggling. Someone’s buying…just not enough.

  3. Hmmm…I’m going go look into who owns “Niggabook.com”

  4. Interesting marketing move. Stir up buzz by making people think that you want to own a horrible site. Then get the community involved in destroying the site. What they have done is brilliant in my eyes. They have gotten this hugely popular site and many others to put there name out to the world on 2 occasions for the price of a domain. Regardless of the vote count they will kill the site and divert your attention to one of there products.

    Not a bad theory.

  6. KJ says:

man jus keep tha site yall worry bout tha dumbest thingz….wtf??…we have bigger problemz n tha world why worry about a website…

Where did black pride go? This makes no sense. Why do we as black people allow others to use us, make fun of who we are and put the money in that person’s pocket. This is a very serious matter. I dont know about you but I take being Black serious. It is who I am. I dont see anyone marketing Crackerspace.com, whitetrashbook.com or hunkiespace. This is not the image that I would like to pass to the future. Its about respect and Im going to get mine!

If you research this on godaddy.com, it is owned by a man named Randall, with his personal phone number posted, which I then called, and he confirmed he owned the site and he IS an African American like myself. So is it still racist now that we know the site is owned by a person of color? Hmm…. Interesting…

  9. Jasmine says:

Well I am unsure what the whole niggaspace.com thing really is but the niggabook.com is owned by facebook.com and when you put this in your webbroswer it takes you straight to the log-in page for facebook. Now what kind of stuff is that? I am proud to be of African descent but I am not proud of the word Nigga or any variation thereof. The truth behind the word is ugly and no matter whether you put an A at the end or not, it still is degrating.
