Recently we discussed Vibe.com’s controversial crowning of Eminem as the best rapper alive.  But can Eminem still be considered a “rapper” if he’s well…not rapping anymore?  Well Eminem is on the comeback trail and according to billboard.biz his comeback album will have a “lot of material” after being locked in the studio for the last five months with Dr. Dre.

The album which is titled “Relapse” will be his first studio effort since his 2004 “Encore,”which 5.1 million copies. Earlier this week we previewed the first single off the album called “I’m having a relapse.”  But according to Slim Shady he has no plans to tour at present and, referring to his previous success, has “no desire to be that big again.”  Hmmmm….Interesting.  In a recent interview with BBC Radio’s Zane Lowe, Eminem said:

“Obviously Dre’s beats are insane but aside from that I can rap, I can write and not worry about what the beat has to sound like and how loud a snare drum is. All those things are taken care of for me. I feel like a spoiled rapper. I get to pick and choose everything.”

So what doest Em think about the Election.

“Yeah I will vote for Barack Obama. I can’t get too political honestly because I don’t know enough about everything to know what’s going on.  I know we’re going into a recession and pardon the cliche but we need something to change. I think Barack would be a breath of fresh air to get what’s left of the Bush administration out of the door.”

The one thing you can take from his comments is he’s definately matured.  He’s always been a gifted lyracist but clearly had some problems with his temper and maturity.  But that after all is what his billions of fans worldwide loved about him and made him immune to declinig record sales.  It’ll be interesting to see how they respond to Em this time around following the extended hiatus and his more grow-up disposition.
