First Look: XXL Freshman Class of ’09 Covers
Good picks?
XXL today released the covers for annual their 2009 Top of The Class issue. The top 10 Freshman class for ’09 includes: Asher Roth, Wale, B.oB, Charles Hamilton, Cory Gunz, Blu, Mickey Factz, Ace Hood, Curren$y and Kid Cudi. To be honest, I must say the chosen ones aren’t horrible and somewhat listenable. Cory Gunz, the son of the legendary Uptown Emcee Peter Gunz is a young and talented performer and Wale brings a bit of live precussion flavor to Hip Hop and hails from the Go-Go haven, Washington D.C. Mickey Factz and Blu are decent as well. The issue streets November 4th. Peep the other covers and video from the photo shoot after the jump.

Not bad. I’m still not sure about this Chalres Hamilton guy. With all the pink and calling himself “Sonic the Hedgehog”
I think that based upon the internet, these are good picks. The 3rd cover (Wale, Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth, B.o.B) might be the best in the long run due to their label backing. Curren$y, Cory Gunz and Mickey Factz are the most lyrical but all in all they’re all good picks.

I could do without Curren$y, Charles Hamilton, Ace Hood, and B.O.B. But maybe that is a biased opinion at the moment since I never really gave their things a good listen.
What does everyone have against Charles Hamilton. I don’t believe I’m familiar with his music.
I agree with all but Curren$y cause dude can spit. Couple of his mixtapes is that “fi fiiiiii!!!”

I also like Kid Cudi as well… I had know idea who he was until a buddy from cleveland let me listen… it was an emcee exchange; “I’ll let you listen to my Wale for your Kid Cudi”
Of course I’ll sound bias as I’m from Pittsburgh but where is Wiz Khalifia?
As I told you before Mike…WHO?! Lol.
Maybe his buzz and/or wasn’t enough compared to these dudes…???…just a guess.
Wiz Khalifia is kinda hot. He was on a Nicolay mixtape and some other shit. I will take him over Charles Hamilton.
But the problem I think everyone has with Charles Hamilton well at least me is that he is overconfident and his lyrics don’t give a reason why. He is kinda like has the Kanye ego with the David Banner or someone lyrics. I am not saying David Banner is a terrible rapper. But it is hit or miss with him.
