Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama For President

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

Bush’s former Secretary of State jumps on the Barack bandwagon.

In what seems to be a surprising move to many, Colin Powell just endorsed Barack Obama for president. The reason it is surprising is because Powell is a Republican who served in the Bush administration as Secretary of State.

As recently as a few weeks ago Colin had said that both candidates would make a good president but now he changed his mind citing McCain’s choice to run such a negative campaign and his as well as him picking Sarah Palin as a running mate.

“I don’t believe [Palin] is ready to be president of the United States. [Joe Biden] is ready to be president on day one.”

When asked what he thought about Powell hopping on the Barack bandwagon, McCain said he was not surprised.

“I’ve always admired and respected General Powell. We have a respectful disagreement.”

Can things really get any worse for McCain? The Republican brand is a sinking ship that everyone wants off of. At the same time can we really be surprised about Colin getting down with Barack. We all know that all black people are voting for Barack this year. No one wants to be “the black person who didn’t help make history”. Ironically people once thought that Colin Powell had the best chance of becoming America’s first black president.

werd barack for president, mcain is another bush

  2. I watched this on meet the press this morning. I am anxious to see what the conservative talking heads have to say about it this week. I can see them now trying to play it off as him just voting for a black guy. WhatAboutOurDaughters.com has already posted what Rush Limbaugh had to say about it.

Good for CP! He’s on CP time with his endorsement, but we love him all the same. Plus, I haven’t officially endorsed Barry yet, but it’s coming once I get MY TV interview deal. :)

You know what this means, don’t you? There’s now an opening for the position of “black republican.”
    .
You have to be light skinned (so you won’t scare the old people), you have to smile a lot; and it helps if you can talk a lot about pulling oneself up by bootstraps, “family values”, and “activist judges.”
    .
In all seriousness, if I was a black man who lusted after power with no moral limits, the Republican Party is the best place to go. They have so few black folks in it now, that any black man or woman who can spell their own name can get fast-tracked to a national audience via TV appearances, convenient photo-ops with any republican who needs to show how well they get along with minorities, as well as long-term VP options to conquer the “black-gap” created by Obama winning the nomination.
    .
Of course I find it more than a little funny that after spending so many years talking about how wonderful Powell is, it’s taken a little less than 48 hours for them to trash him on every aspect of his life.

I’m young black conservative that just recently broke ranks with the Democratic Party in last pass couple of months. I don’t know much about Gen. Colin Powell but I respect his views. I would also like to disagree with some of the points he made.

During his interview Gen. Powell makes the point that the RNC has moved farther to the right. I’m sorry but electing McCain doesn’t show any signs to me that the Party is moving in that direction. There were far more conservative choices in the primaries.

Another point of concern Gen. Powell brought up was about Obamas friendship with Aires. I believe Obamas friendship with Aires and Pastor Wright ought to concern anyone. They both display a hatred for America and it brings in to question how does Obama really fell about this country. I know you remember the old adage, “birds of a feather flock together.”

I know you will disagree with my opinions but I felt the need to share a different prospective.
