Obama Campains In New XBox 360 Video Game
Presidential hopefull buys space on virtual billboard on new “Burnout Paradise” Video Game
In perhaps his most creative political move to date, the Barack Obama campaign has purchased ad space in the new XBOX 360 game “Burnout Paradise.” Even the casual gamer has noticed that over the last few years as gaming systems have gone online it has allowed game developers the opportunity to sell ad space within the game and rotate them as newer clients come on board.
The ads will appear as virtual billboards in the racing car game with Obama’s image and the words “Early Voting Has Begun, voteforchange.com.” Gamers will encounter them on the side of the road as they whip around corners and down the staight aways. The ad is just his latest attempt to reach the younger generation and get out the vote among video game heads. Shout to Gigaom.com for the heads up.
The irony of course is Obama has been telling parents that they need to be more responsible and turn off the the televisions and video games in effort to get their kids focused on school. These ads, clearly are targetting an older audience however, ones who are old enough to vote.

heard he has them in Madden 09 too.
This kind of advertising is so amazing to me. Its so creative and the profit margins for the game developers must be huge. It cost nothing for them to produce.
I’ve heard they are working on some tech that will allow them to change the ads whenever a gamer goes online. So one day you play the game and it has a Barack ad. You play it again in six months and it has an ad for Apple’s newest iPod. Pretty cool.
yeah that’s what I’m referring to. That’s how it is in Madden ‘09 already and I believe this game as well. The ads aren’t embedded. After the election you won’t see the Obama ad any longer.
This time tommorrow games are goin to have the flipping billboard then the “TV Billboard” I hate. Technology goes in.
