BUSINESS MATTERS: Pics And More From Russell Simmons’ ‘Argyle Culture’ Collection Launch

Posted by Juan

Runway show held in South Beach on Friday

Argyle Culture

Friday Russell Simmons officially unveiled his new Argyle Culture menswear collection at his exclusive Fashion Show held at the Setai Hotel in South Beach, Fla.  We first reported on the new line way back in February and we’ve finally got a peak at what the collection really looks like.

The more mature and slightly more affluently skewed cousin of his Simmons’ Fat Farm line features sporty suits, pinstriped shorts, plaid shorts, classic five-pocket pants created in materials like wool and cotton blends and of course lots and lots of argyle sweaters.

According to Simmons’ the goal is to mix urban aesthetics with traditionally professional and preppy attire.  Preppy I haven’t heard that word since junior high school. “I want to create a line to reach out to those guys who are not young men anymore but who want to still be part of that urban lifestyle.”

Hmmmmmmmmm….that sounds like me but there’s no way I’m wearing some of that ish.

Simmons and Gabby Union

Gabrielle Union who attended the show says she was inspired. “Russell is so amazing and such an inspiration.  I am just honored to be here in his support and to celebrate his birthday.”  (Simmons turned 51 on Saturday)
