Newsweek: The Audacity Of Hip Hop
Far from being politically alienated and bling-obsessed, the rap generation may be just months away from occupying the White House.
What was once only the deafening rally cry for Hip Hop…Change…TRUE change…may be upon us. For two generations of Hip Hop we’ve been ultra critical of our disenfranchised position in society as unappreciated sector in the American social hierarchy. In a long awaited (but unexpected) turn of events Hip Hop may have gone from being held down by the man to being responsible for electing the man to become…THE MAN.
Newsweek examines how Hip Hop culture has gone from Nas’ proclaimation of it’s unfortunate demise to to its reorganization around the Obama poltics to become perhaps the single most responsible x-factor in electing the first black President to the White House. Although Diddy and Citizen Change may have laid the ground work in a failed attempt 4 years ago we didn’t have the stong leadership of Senator Obama (no offense to John Kerry…well…)
This is a MUST read. Its short, succinct and will get you motivated as Newsweek conceeds that this country must FINALLY recognize your’s and my contribution to American politics as a viable if not dangerous political force never to be underestimated again.
