50 Cent Gets the Key to City In His Bridgeport, CT Hometown

Posted by Juan

Oct 12 is now officially Curtis Jackson Day?! Something smells.

50

Something smells incredibly fishy here.  The very yuppy, affluent town of Bridgeport, Conn has announced that they will honor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, with a key to the city. The announcement comes on the heals a very troubling disturbance at the crib back in may in which one of 50′s employees choked out a 22-year old woman.

According to reports, 50 will be granted the key on October 12th, which will officially be known as Curtis Jackson Day. When asked how he’d commemorate the honor 50 said “I’d probably just have a nice picnic But everybody should have a block party – with just my music being played.”

CLASSIC 50 response.  Here’s the thing that’s troubling to me…yeah 50 filmed his new movie “Righteous Kill” with Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino in Connecticut but why HONOR him?  I’m sure although he’s been a great addition to the town’s street cred there have been quite a few reports of disturbances at the property in which authorities were dispatched.  Then ofcourse you have to remember that the 19-bedroom crib is on the market.  Whose using who here?  Are they giving 50 they key to the city to make him think twice about the move and keep property values up?  There’s no way anyone in Bridgeport’s little municipality thought so higly of 50 as a model citizen enough to give him the key.  Something smells…I’ma do some digging and thinking…talk amongst yourselves.

UPDATE:  Well I did some digging and I found out that the honor was actually in response to 50 donating an undisclosed amount of duckets to Hall Neighborhood House, an inner-city nonprofit group.  He is also scheduled to speak to about 30 students from city high schools as part of his charity work to improve young people’s lives…this all of course according to “sources.”

I love it when you write “According to reports” and then don’t tell us which reports you reference. [Just kidding, Boss Man]

I actually read that the African-American parts of Bridgeport ain’t that affluent. In fact, Michael Jai White is from there and he says it’s da hood up in there. Bridgeport ain’t that much safer than Joizey (Jersey) when it comes to the black neighborhoods.

    But still a great post!

LOL “according to reports” is code word for ASS-ociatiated press. They’re very finicky about quoting them so if they don’t want the credit…they can be listed as “reports.”

Bridgeport? Gully? yaaawn. There are black folks and some have been known to wear baggy jeans and listen to rap yea but does that automatically make it the hood?

Bridgeport is very hood, you can ask anybody who knows about Bridgeport. New York people know what’s going on, you can even ask some of your hip hop stars who have stopped by.

I am from CT and can say that Bridgeport is a half and half, like a lot of cities out there. Where 50 lives, is definitely a higher end hood, but a good 70% of Bridgeport is urban, more than half is ghetto central.

hahaha bridgeport yuppy lol damn i could tell you never been there or even close and by the way farmington isn’t even in same county as bridgeport so 50 is not a resident nor does he add any “street cred” check this out if you don’t believe me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FitJlhtGBzw
