First Offenders of Florida’s ‘Baggy Pants Crackdown’ Nabbed
Expose your drawers…get busted.
Riviera Beach, Florida cops have been aggressively enforcing a new city ordinance targeting black folks who believe in the fashion philosophy that includes exposing one’s drawers in public….you know the baggy jeans loook.
According to The Smoking Gun and a CBS 12 report, since the crackdown began last month, 11 have been ARRESTED including two are juveniles. The ordinance defines violators as those whose pants or shorts exposed between two and five inches of the individual’s undergarments. Translation: if half of your boxers are showing you’re going to jail.
According to the police reports obtained by TSG, one of the juvenile offenders reportedly cursed out the arresting officer and allegedly said “Your a cracker and ain’t got shit better to do.” First-time violators of the ordinance face a fine of up to $150. Repeat offenders could be sentenced to a maximum of 30 days in jail.

Its about damn time…!?!
Exposing your underwear isn’t the samething as exposing yourself, so I do have a problem with this actually being a LAW or ordinance. Having your ass crack showing is not the samething as having your underwear showing.
I have family in that city, so the story hits home in a comical way. Riviera (a.k.a. “The Row”) has produced Devin Hester (but the dreadlocks now make him look “suspect” in the literal way- not the usual negative connotation). It’s amazing how the South has changed. 10 years ago, Brothas would be clowned for wearing dreads. And not saying dreads are bad thing, but now they represent such negative things depending upon who is wearing them.
Great story! They need to buy a belt, or as Fonzworth Bentley says, “Pull their ass down”
I cant wait til this comes to NYC…because its just out off control now. BLACK people walking around with TIGHT ASS!! jeans with there ass hanging out!!! It some “sadamight” sh*t anyway. This trend was started by gay inmates in jail for reasons that don’t need to be discussed here!!!!!! Why does anyone wanna look like that?
whatever Ruthless you probably wear your pants just like that…with a thong.
LOL…….yeah right!!!
I think it’s crazy for them to get locked up for it but it does look bad. The females on the other hand, wearing tight jeans and then their underwear bunched up all in the back. Just nasty, ladies please learn how to wear your panties.
I understand that sagging is offensive but so are many other things that are not worthy of being fined or going to jail for.
Although I do not sag, this law is just in place because the population it effects does not have the resources to fight the law. In a reality, if one is allowed to wear a speedo or a bikini in public, one should be able to sag.
Tarnishing a young persons record for having bad taste in the way they wear their clothes is simply unfair.
I don’t like to see people’s underwear; however, demanding that people wear their clothes a certain way and threatening their liberty, is just ridiculous.
On the other hand, if this targeted demographic got their heads out of their asses, they may be able to see that you can’t get a decent job, woman (keyword decent), or first impression by sagging.
So for those who sag:
Look up where sagging originated and if you say the N word, stop.
For those who are for this law:
Your life must be really simple and I am envious that you have the emotional surplus to care enough about this topic that you would imprison and/or fine our youth over such a petty issue.
Nicca pull your pants up
good issh Joe/ M Thomas
That law is stupid….kids been saggin their pants since, forever…lock up the murderers, rapers, and thieves. Don’t book a 16 yrs for tryin to fit in, that’s why they are saggin in the 1st place, lol get it lol

It seems funny when you think that a town would tell people how to dress if they are not exposing themselves. But on the other hand, I’m happy they are doing it. I find it disgusting seeing people with the pants almost to their knees with the drawls showing. But going to jail for a repeat offense is crazy.
I’m sorry, but I think it’s just wrong. I am against sagging, but to enforce a law for your own opinion is wrong. I don’t like seeing fat people with thier shirts off sweating and exposing man boobs, but yet I do. If that is not outlawed, then why is showing underwear/boxers? Personally (and I normally don’t say this) but this is either racially or generationally provoked. When the style by punk rockers was wearing holes in the jeans and ragged shirts, was there an issue, When walking shirtless and a hairy chest with a guitar, it wasn’t put into law, but companies had to say no.? What’s next, my shoes have holes and I get arrested? I ain’t for sagging, but that is just wrong!
