BREAKING NEWS: John McCain Selects Gov. Sarah Palin for Running Mate

Posted by Juan

Ensures history will be made. A Black President or a Female VP

Sarah Palin

Sen. John McCain has just announced that he has selected Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.  A little background for the Nation: Palin is a 44 year-old first-term governor who was the first woman and the youngest person to hold the position of governer in the state of Alaska.

She carries a reputation as a political outsider with firm roots in local politics, formerly holding positions as mayor and council member.  She will provide a huge boost to McCains energy platform as she was chairman of the state Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which regulates Alaska’s oil and gas resources, in 2003 and 2004.

Palin made her name in part by backing tough ethical standards for politicians and passed tough state ethics law legislation.  But much like my former Governor Spitzer (but to a lesser degree) she’s got some skelatons in the closet.

There is an on-going investigation into Palin’s recent firing of Alaska’s public safety commissioner because he refused to fire the governor’s former brother-in-law, a state trooper.  Palin acknowledged that a member of her staff made a call to a trooper in which the staffer suggested he was speaking for the governor. Palin has admitted that the call could be interpreted as pressure to fire state trooper Mike Wooten, who was locked in a child-custody battle with Palin’s sister.

But I’m sure that will disappear now that’s she’s playing wing man (woman) for McCain.  If the Republicans can start a war for his benefit then they can most definately make her legal/ethics troubles go away.

So the starting line ups are set.  Let the games begin!

I have to give McCain credit for being smarter than I thought he was.

As you and I have talked about before (more than once), picking a woman was the smart move.

Picking this woman is also important for another reason: it sticks a thumb in the eye of the neo-cons, who were insisting on Romney or Rudy.

It looks (thank God) as though the McCain of 2006 and 2008 is gone, and the McCain of 2000 might be back.

As you know, I support Obama, but I think we could live with this McCain/Palin ticket if we had to.

Considering how the field looked when the primary started, I think America dodged a bullet. With so many of the wrong choices that we had, Obama/Biden vs McCain/Palin is about as close to a win-win that we could have hoped for.

This is a smart ploy by Mccain I must admit. Now he’ll have some women votes off of the strength of having a woman for his VP. Now this will be a historical election either way it goes.

Let the game be plaaayed is right. He’ll definately soak up the disenfranchised Hillary purist and every feminist in the country will be a Republican come Novemeber. I wouldn’t go as far as to say its a win/win but I’d say this country can once again be taken seriously with some serious people running.

The moment I heard about his pick I was saying to myself Clinton’s supporters will now vote Republican.

This election just got a little more interesting. Bring on the debates.

^^^Truth…I was JUST randomly venting this morning about how Hillary supporters go on to say just because she wasn’t the front runner anymore, they were(are) going to vote for McCain. Now they REALLY have a reason too, just for the sake of a woman in the White House with such a high position…an the few may think President because, real walk, McCain’s old.

Obama messed up when he didn’t select Clinton as his VP. I don’t care if you like her or not, that would have been too strong of a ticket for McCain to win and this is coming from a conservative who supports McCain.

The only thing missing now is a Gay Midget. Yeah, I said it.

2008-08-31 21:34:43

I would love for a candidate to come out and reach out to the gay midget demographic which is often ignored in elections

Skinnygirluver is hilarious!!!!!!

Palin makes a better choice for the GOP than Biden for the Dems because it’s a strategic one. McCain is trying to woo Hillary supporters implicitly, but it’s coming off rather explicit to haters pundits like me.

This will be an interesting election indeed…

I certainly wasn’t expecting Palin but I’m happy that he picked a woman in a way. I’m for Obama but just in case things don’t go well in November, history will still be written.

McCain only spoke to her twice before he chose her for VP. Smart move, sounds pretty stupid to me. With his old ass, if something were to happen to him, is Sarah Palin the best choice to run country out of all the republican choices he had. Clinton voters should be smarter than that with McCain puting his political campaign 1st instead of the country. Her beliefs are opposite of what Hillary fought for, do the reseach people. Palin is a fine woman but there were better choices.

you make a very good point. hopefully otehrs will realize that.
