Mountain Dew Hangs with the Cool Kids To Help Promote New Green Label Sound
Corporate sponsored digital label spells the the next evolution for music artists
Last week Mountain Dew launched its new Green Label Sound, an online record imprint and has recruited the increasingly popular Cool Kids as one of their initial test dummies.Over the weekend, the Cool Kids released the new track “Delivery Man” as a free MP3 single, featuring Mountain Dew inspired art by Green Label artist PJ Richardson.
We’ve discussed these type of movements a lot here at the Nation and this is just another indication of the evolution of music into the corporate space. Mountain Dew and the Cool Kids target consumers intersect to a great degree so by using the groups popularity and credibility with the target audience, the beverage maker is able to deliver the marketing message in the language that their consumers speak. Although Jay-Z may have been one of the “recognized” pioneers of these types of partnership they date way back to RUN DMC and “My Adidas. ”
Peep the embeddable widget below. At first look it appears to be just another Youtube inspired media player but it allows you to also download free tracks easily. Pretty tame by today’s standards but dope none the less. Shout to my man Charlie Moran at Ad Age for the heads up.
