Mos Def Tries His Hand At Producing with Casino Flick Based On “Moulin Rouge”
Mos Def is deep in this Hollywood thing man
Mos Def the music artist made the transition to movies quite a long time ago and has by far been one of the most special talents among his counterparts to do so. Now Mos is taking the next step in his development in Hollywood, this time will display his talents BEHIND the camera. He, along with his brother Khalil Prescott-Bey and Rahman Prescott of Garden Grown Entertainment will join a pair of production houses to create the film, “The Fabulous Moulin Rouge.”
The which will be shot exclusively in Dubai, chronicles the legendary, Moulin Rouge; the first desegregated hotel and casino in Las Vegas that sprang up in 1955 and closed six months later under mysterious circumstances just as it was gaining momentum and attracting singers such as Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra. According to Variety, the flick will feature a fictional African-American character who rises from mob debt collector to manager of the famed venue.
Dubai was an interesting filming location given that casino gambling is forbidden however, according to the producers they plan to overcome the hurdle by erecting a replica of the casino
Dubai based managing director, Abbi Shabazz said Dubai is ambitious about attracting film shoots, and he opened a company there to take advantage of funding opportunities as they raise money to shoot the picture late next year.
