Marketing Matters: Visa Olympic Derek Redmond Ad

Posted by Marcus "Dos Un" Holmes

nice appeal to the emotion

Most track and field and/ or Olympic fans remember the emotional moment that took place at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic. Great Britain’s Derek Redmond pulled up with an injury in the 400 meter sprint. He tore his hamstring. Knowing it was a chance of the lifetime, he began to tear but hobbled along to at least finish the race. In stunning imagery, Redmond’s father runs up behind him an d helps him finish. Great moment even though it was a tough one. Good use of emotion here Visa. Marketing is a lot about remembering, and the connection here is a strong one. Bravo.
