Forbes Profiles Prominent Hip Hop Homes For Sale
Some forclosures and some upgrades
On what amounts to Forbes Magazine’s busiest Hip Hop News day to date, the publication profiled nine homes inhabited by Hip Hop Stars which are currently on the very unstable real estate market. Earlier I shared with you Forbes’ special report on the Business of Hip Hop and now I bring you the cribs these busy people hardly ever get to enjoy. Although most of these stars are moving for greener pastures, some of them have not been immune to the rough patch initiated by this down economy. None the less if you want to live in the former home of your favorite rapper, there are quite a few to choose from
Snoop Dogg
Snoop recently got $2 million for a 6,500-square-foot house in Claremont, Calif., home to the prestigious Claremont Colleges. Thirty miles outside Los Angeles, the eight-bedroom property includes a pool, basketball court and recording studio.

Suge Knight
After filing for bankruptcy and losing control of his record company, Death Row Records founder Suge Knight’s $6.2 million mansion went up for sale last year. Knight purchased the 8,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom estate with ocean views for a reported $3.8 million in 2003.
Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige bought a $12.3 million Saddle River, N.J., mansion earlier this year. The Grammy-winning artist’s new digs are 18,000 square feet with eight bedrooms, a basketball court and a movie theater. Her neighbors include New Jersey Nets star Vince Carter and musicians Ja Rule and Wyclef Jean.

Kanye West
The Grammy-winning rapper’s six-bedroom, 35,000-square-foot Beverly Hills, Calif., mansion went up for sale in early 2008. West asks $8.7 million for the property he purchased a year earlier for $7.2 million.
Russell Simmons
The Saddle River, N.J., manse of producer Russell Simmons is for sale for $20 million. The 10-bedroom home sits on four acres, complete with indoor and outdoor pools, a wine cellar and a movie theater. Down the street is the house made famous by the reality television show Run’s House, starring Russell’s brother, Reverend Run of Run DMC.

50 Cent
Rapper 50 Cent’s Farmington, Conn., mansion went on the market last year. Sitting on 17 acres, this 19-bedroom, 50,000-square foot home boasts indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and basketball courts, a pond and a guest house. The rapper is asking $18.5 million; he bought the home from Mike Tyson’s ex-wife for $4.1 million in 2003.
Scott Storch
The hip-hop producer’s $10 million mansion is located on Miami Beach’s exclusive, man-made Palm Island. But Storch, recently hitless and reportedly two years delinquent on property taxes, is facing foreclosure on the home. His rise to fame followed a string of successes working with Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Beyoncé.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé
Newlyweds Jay-Z and Beyoncé Knowles are building a house in the wealthy New York City suburb of Scarsdale. Together, the hip-hop power couple brought in $162 million last year.
Diddy
In 2004, rapper and producer Sean Combs paid $5 million for his apartment in midtown Manhattan’s Park Imperial complex. The three-bedroom apartment has views of Central Park from 56th street.
