Usher Mom

Back in July I told you about the floating rumor that Usher was indeed unhappy with his current management and was contemplating rehiring his mother just fifteen months after firing her.

In a statement from his LaFace/Zomba outfit the artist confirmed that he “has dissolved his management arrangement with Benny Medina and has re-engaged Jonnetta Patton (mom-dukes) as his manager.”

Last month, the New York Daily News’ Rush and Malloy stated:

“But now that Usher’s new album has been slow off the mark, he’s blaming Medina.  True, the CD, ‘Here I Stand,’ debuted at number one. But Usher is said to have been disappointed that it sold 433,000 in its first week, compared with his last CD, 2004’s “Confessions,” which had sales of 1.1 million in its first seven days.”

Since the controversial firing of his mom last Mother’s Day, Usher has maintained that she “retired” and wasn’t forced out by his then fiance, now wife Tameka Foster.  The two have been always rumored to have a contentious relationship but are said to be getting along better since the baby.

The singer also reportedly dumped W&W Public Relations, publicist to Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys and Ludacris.
