Animal Planet to Premier Special on the Now Very Tired Michael Vick Ordeal

Posted by Juan

Can we please get passed this?

Michael Vick Dog

Fueled by the now stale and old Michael Vick dog fighting incident, Animal Planet will premier “The Michael Vick Case,” a one-hour special that details Vick’s dogfighting ordeal.  The investigative style report will air Sunday, Aug. 24, at 10 p.m. and will look at the former/future NFL quarterback, the snitches, the law enforcement officers who broke the case and of course the doggies affected.

In addition to rare underground dog fighting footage, “Animal Witness: The Michael Vick Case” will ultimately aim to “challenge the misconceptions about pit bulls and try to show that these sometime vicious dogs can be lovable family pets.”

Can we drop it already?  PLEASE!  We’re living in a world where Michael Vick STILL is getting thrown under the bus, jail and stadium but white NFL referee, Tim Donaghy gets essentially a slap on the wrist for jeopardizing the entire integrity, livelihood of an entire industry and sport.  Granted we’re talking about a life for a some money but I can come up with a thousand different examples of how much harsher criminal actions were punished with far more lenient sentencing than Vick received and that’s not even counting the public scrutiny he received and will be damned with for the rest of his life.  Did he make a few mistakes, absolutely…all NFL players get caught up in some BS.  But is he a bad guy because of it?  Dare I say now without animal cruelty lobby groups trying to shut down Highbrid Nation?

Im sure the execs at Animal Planet are searching for something or anything to bring some ratings to the very very niche network. Seriously, the is the station with the reality show about dog catchers.

Vick got what he deserved. He broke the law and he is where he belongs. He is old news.

Vick deserves to be treated exactly the way he treated the dogs he severely mistreated!!! How dare anyone think that his color had anything to do with these facts. It’s people who think that way who are more prejudiced than anyone else!!! How about putting Vick in the ring with his “killer” dogs!!!

No, lets NOT get past this Vick issue.
Lets keep it in the news as a reminder that dog fighting
is not only a BAD thing but an ILLEGAL thing.
And, lets keep it in the news as a reminder that pit
bulls are GOOD animals. Only bad PEOPLE make them do
bad things.

How could anyone have compassion for Vick on this issue? It’s certainly NOT a racial thing: he tortured, abused and murdered innocent animals. He lied about it. He profited from it. He broke the law and flaunted it. He is guilty.
Let the publicity from this horrendous dog fighting business bring attention to this illegal practice and encourage people not to tolerate such activity. It is proven that many who commit violent crimes have a past history of animal abuse.
We need stronger laws and follow up to ensure this practice is ended in our “civilized” country.
