MARKETING MATTERS: Aftermath Cognac To Debut As Dr. Dre Fans Detox?

Posted by Juan

Dr. Dre Goes from Headphones to Henny

Aftermath Cognac

As part of their joint venture with beverage company Drink Americas, Interscope/ Geffen A&M Records has announced the release of their first line of liqs. In what amounts to a glaring contradiction the alcoholic beverages will hit shelves at the same time as Dr. Dre’s long awaited “Detox” album as part of a comprehensive integrated marketing plan to support the album.

The star of the beverage line will be Aftermath Cognac. The company will also put out a yet named flavored and unflavored 80-proof sparkling vodka among others as part of the joint venture. Dr. Dre tells USA Today that we should expect the album in “November or December” so plan your intox/detox session accordingly.

I’m a L.A. baby myself, and I love most of the west coast rappers, starting with Dre. But I would have thought that he could have been a bit more cerebral about what he wants to be associated with as the years progress.

A number of these rappers and alcohol, is there nothing less potent and more rewarding they can invest in?
