Misc. Rant: “No…You’re Wrong. It Is Your Job!”

Posted by Juan

Why don’t “Our” people treat each other with respect

I hate work

What up Nation.  Allow me to apologize for the lack of recent updates.  The Highbrid Nation team has been hard at work on various projects this summer that have occupied a lot of time.  But you better believe that its all in the name of the “H” and as a result we’ll soon be bringing you even more surprises that will further enhance your Highbrid Nation experience. So pardon our dust.

On to business.  We’ve been having some issues with the Highbrid Offices here.  Maintenance problems that required me to have to deal with the Management Agency that owns the building and the superintendent.  What I’ve come to realize is that black “our” people don’t know how to talk to one another.  There’s an age-old saying: “You can take an cat out the hood but you can’t take the hood out the cat.“  These ghetto ass folk that work in this management company think that because they at some point received a raise or have the word supervisor in their title somehow gives them the ability to push people around…black people around.

The problem starts when these companies hire these “folk” to come and work for them.  Now I won’t be a self-loathing racist or speak in blanket terms but why is it that we’re always forced to speak with the “supervisor” whose highest level of education is clearly “GED” and who is obviously jealous of the fact that you have a mastery of the PROPER English language?

Ms. Supervisor always seems to approach any potential situation with an attitude complete with a preconceived notion of what they THINK the problem is and how you’ll react.  They then proceed to deliver their cookie cutter address that they’ve given the last 30 individuals that rung their line or came to their desk.  EXCUSE ME for disturbing your Soduku or 3rd 2-Hour lunch of the day.  Is it so wrong of me to request that I get some eye contact when I’m talking to you or request that you, god forbid actually do your job?  Its amazing to me how many times I, as a black man, hear from other people of the same persuasion: “That’s not my job!”

As an entrepreneur, my job is EVERYTHING.  I’m a problem solver.  We at Highbrid do what’s needed to make the problem go away…We provide solutions!    So I challenge you, my black brothers and sisters stop saying “That’s not my job” and start asking what is?  Paz.

I feel ya. It’s always easier to pass the buck. But maybe you touched on the very reason others act like that and you may not. You work for Yourself and know that the buck sops with you. If you don’t make sure it gets done, it very well may not get done. Some one who is just caught in the Matrix working for “the man” just doesnt give a damn about how half ass there job is getting done because at the end of the week they will still get that paycheck.
