This Guy Saved Rap?

Well according to Nas, Hip Hop is Dead…or it was dead…but its not anymore because according to a recent interview with Complex Magazine, someone saved it.  That some one is Dos Un’s favorite rapper, Kanye West.

“I think Kanye West saved rap. I think Lil Wayne is showing there is a future for all kinds of artists to continue doing this. You know, I love it,” Nas said.

I think I just threw up in my mouth.  I guess these rappers are starting to realize what I have but have yet to accept, we never passed the torch but it very well might have been stolen.  Hip Hop isn’t ours anymore.  It isn’t necessarily dead but it evolved much like we have.  We’ve gotten older and the youth own her and have changed her into something quite different.  Something that many of us can’t accept so we say she’s dead.  

Later in the interview Nas also addressed the whole album title controversy with the change from Nigger to “Nas” or “Untitled.” 

“I think the Hip Hop Is Dead and the Nigger album, they were for that time. … People may think it’s a controversial title, but it’s really what I’m feeling,” he told the mag. “I’m not going to make the title less controversial because it’s going to offend people.”
